Globes are trendy.
What makes you think is from 70's?
If you check the countries you'll have a clue on the date in wich it was made.. (i.e.: URSS /letonia/lituania).
I saw yesterday 2 similars, in wood, very similar, new and chinese, you know chinese are making wonderful things...
It's Nice!.
Rand McNally world globe
cali4sun,
This Rand McNally World globe is a serious piece (remember the scene in Close Encounters when the guy ask: Do you know how much that globe cost). Rand McNally sold the mold years ago to a US (not Chinese - they make sub par products for WalMart shoppers) company that is still producing them (they also make moon globes). They are in the $30,000.00 price range. The University of Toledo (Ohio) has one on display
In your particular case a suggest a vintage piece.
Gustavo - I thought it was...
Gustavo - I thought it was from 1970's from looking at the electrical cord. It was vintage 70's/or 1960's and appeared to be original. I'd recommend that you do not buy Chinese stuff unless your ok with it being disposable.
Woodywood - I agree with you globes statment!!!
