Well I tried various keywords mostly in French and looked in catalogs but got no luck.
Thx niceguy
@spanky do the same with this one now http://www.designaddict.com/forum/General-discussion/Leather-sofa-armcha...
ignad,
I was happy to help.
Spanky may not have a complete understanding of the English language (she could not understand and/or answer your question and she also answered my question with a statement).
Good luck on this forum. Should I ever write a question in French I hope you answer. Not everyone is as cleaver or adroit as Spanky.
ignad, I'd happily do the same for the sofa search but it's a totally different kind of mystery! With the IKEA buffet, you started out with the brand name and you provided the keywords for the search. I had seen the buffet many times myself and IKEA has a huge worldwide distribution of a relatively small range of items, so I knew the chances of finding one online would be very good. I used English keywords because I live in the US and that's my first language (and only fluent one, and, ok, probably the only one unless I brush up on my high school Spanish a bit). There are probably more internet mentions in English of this buffet simply because there were probably more sold to English speakers than to French speakers.
So that's that search. Now the sofa---that is an entirely different kind of search. You aren't starting out with the name and I'm guessing that it's a very, very small manufacturer compare to IKEA. I've done many, many searches for specific upholstered chairs and sofas over the years, some for myself and a lot for people here, and more often than not I do not find what I'm looking for even after trying every possible search word. You also have the problem of the only distinctive feature of these pieces being the reverse scroll of the trim---and that this is not something that would have a standard term and also not something that most people write about in an online description. So your pieces will be lost in a huge sea of other tufted leather chairs and sofas---as you well know!
Are you selling these and you need to know the name so that you can get the best price? Or do you just want to know for yourself? Either way, I wish you the best of luck.
niceguy, it is rather gauche of you to assail an individual just because they answered your question in a way you did not like ... you asked the question after all.
ignad, the furniture you have brought to this forum, is not what we typically discuss here. Therefore, you cannot expect the knowledge of forum members to be of much advantage to you here. For me personally, I find it a bit offensive that you would think so little of other people's time (which is apparent in your lack of effort in identifying the Ikea piece). While I can see that it would be frustrating for a French-speaker, that the lingua franca of the internet is English, Ikea is a prevalent and accessible brand, regardless of native language.
@zephyr on forums what I hate more than people who think others are morons, is people who don't mind their own fucking business and go off topic.
Forums are not here to make people search, but to give answers.
It's precisely because those who know can find the information much faster than those who don't know that they should answer and not make people search.
ignad,
This forum has many functions. One is to give answers. I gave you an answer. Another function is learning. Spanky gave valid instructions on internet searches (reverse scroll of the trim - who knew). The positive uses of this, and other forums, is nearly endless.
Do not lower yourself to the few offering negative views. Their opinions and statements are worthless and without merit.
Spanky and I wished you "good luck"... This is a good beginning. 50%
