Hello
I bought this from a seller on Easy who lives n the Netherlands. She herself had no idea what is was or what it was used for but liked it, as do I!
Im looking to use this as a soap dish in the bathroom and would really like to find another. I was hoping once I bought it it would have some kind of marker on it that would help identify it but no such luck.
If anyone has any idea what it is that would be amazing!!!!

The mounting holes say that it is upside down.

Good catch, leif. Based on the weathered appearance, i'd guess it is some kind of shield for something that would be found outdoors, like an outdoor lightbulb or something, maybe on a farm building or garden shed.

And it appears that some sort of "stick" was meant to go through each hole and seat in the indentation behind....

I think this is the mount for an antique clothes drying rack.

Similar to this. There were rods or dowels that went in it at some point.

I agree with SDR. It's a chastity device (circa early 20th century). Probably American.

A lot of people used to have false teeth. Could it have hung in a bathroom and been a holder for dentures to dry overnight? It's shaped like dentures.

Hi.
I agree with keewee. It's a temporary storage facility for false teeth (uppers and/or lowers). Circa early 20th century. Probably American.

Juanearl for the win! Antique laundry rack.
I couldn't find any pics of the exact thing in use but these are all similar. The OP's was probably hung on an exterior wall given how weathered it is.
