I recently bought this pair of Danish table lamps from the estate of a retired U.S. Army Colonel that was stationed in Wiesbaden, Germany from the late 1950s - 60s. I was told by the estate sales company that all the Danish furniture was bought in Germany and the Colonel had the furniture shipped back to the states after his deployment there. The late Colonels widow told the estate sales company that Povl Dinesen had a retail shop in Wiesbaden were the Colonel bought almost all his beloved furniture. The Colonels estate had some Arne Vodder, Povl Dinesen, Tove & Edvard Kindt-Larsen designs in it. I am not a lighting expert but I can spot a well made lamp from across the room and that is what happened with these lamps. I have never seen lighting sockets built like the ones on these lamps so I bought them. I took the lamps to the lighting store near were I live that has been around forever and Kenny the 88 year old lamp repairman that has seen thousands of lamps in his time had never seen sockets like these before either. The toggle switch only goes back in forth for your on & off settings and the toggle switch pulls out of the socket like a pin to disassemble. The socket & harp is made with brass and plastic. Could these be Povl Dinesen designed lamps?

Danish lamps that I know have original sockets have had this style of sockets. (There may be others that are original as well). And Povl Dinesen's catalog contains this lamp, in 17in and 24in heights. It does not say who made or designed them. There are items made and designed by Povl Dinesen in the catalog and they are marked as such, so they they were being sold as generic.
My Povl Dinesen catalog also shows the same lamp, although there are no photos of the harp, etc. It is cited as model PD483/17 and PD483/24. No designer is cited, just as in Leif's catalog.
I have a Fog&Morup pendant ceiling lamp with a very similar brown socket. It is flared in pretty much the same way, and unscrews the same way as well.

Thank you for your responses.... The teak body of the lamp measures 17" and to the top of the harp measures 24" so is this a 17" or 24" lamp? I am not a lamp expert so I have to ask. Also, I will be honest, I paid $180 for the pair of lamps so am I into these lamp for a good price? What do you think the ball park value for them is? I love these lamps and I'm currently using them in one of the back rooms of my house so it's not like I'm going to flip them for a profit. Would you mind posting a picture of the page with my lamps from your catalog for my collection info folder.

If you can look past the cheetah print Howard Parlor Loungers you might see something else in the back room... Lol... I bought the loungers a while ago for resale but Mrs. Peruche decided she wanted to keep them for the back room were my 4 year old watches TV sometimes. The Povl Dinesen table lamps look beautiful when lit up at nite time.

Here is the table that I am currently using in my living room. It's an Adian Pearsall/Craft Associates "Stingray" coffee table. I posted some pictures of it on this board before I had the veneer damage repaired by my wood guy. Absolutely one of my top 3 favorite pieces in my collection.
