Hi All, I've been searching, but can't find a conclusive ID on a pair of chairs I picked up. I've seen them identified as Adrian Pearsall (e.g. do a google search for "adrian pearsall chair wood", as well as a current auction on liveauctioneers), but don't see any reason to believe that atrribution and a whole lot of reasons not to. If anything, the shape of the armrest is somewhat reminiscent of Ib Kofod Larson for Selig. That said, I know a lot of similar chairs were produced in Yugoslavia, Italy etc.The chairs aren't marked in any way, other than the original green Rotex straps that are still in pretty good shape. In an earlier thread (2008), Fungus Mungus wrote of Rotex straps "I figured out that the stamps on the webbing remnants say "ROTEX Natural Rubber" and "Dan. & Foreign" and "350". There is other writing as well, but I cannot decipher it. From what I could find on this, ROTEX is the webbing product name, which apparently was used on older Danish modern furniture."In short, beyond the straps, I don't have a lot to go on. The chair are very comfortable and have found a good home, but it would be nice to be able to assign a name to a face, so to speak. Thanks in advance for any help the collective might be able to provide!

Where are you located? I've had two sets of those come through my possession. Both had Danish Rotex straps and both were american made by Paoli Chair Company of Indiana. Just curious if your pair could have been mine at one point.
They are an americanization of Kurt Ostervig for Jason chairs: http://www.danish-modern.co.uk/kurt-%C3%B8stervig-for-jason-3/
Note the similarities and subtle differences.
Hey Samsmodern - Thanks for the quick reply. I hadn't come across that advertisement before. Your comments make a lot of sense, given I'm in Chicago. They're a CL find, so no idea if they belonged to you at some point?
It's interesting - the advertisement is a close match, as you point out. That said, the chairs Lauritz and Dansmoderne have listed as Ostervig Janus chairs look quite different.
Question: how were you able to determine that yours were Paoli chairs? Were they marked in some way?
Thanks for the help & education!
No problem. I'm in the midwest as well, so its quite possible they were mine, hopefully you got a good deal.
Re: Identification, its not that they were marked, but unmarked that gave it away. Generally speaking Paoli used paper labels that fall off easily. Jason used an easily recongizable mark that would be hard to remove unless you really tried:

Just purchased a loveseat of same design, with straps that are stamped "ROTEX / DAN & FOREIGN PATS. / MADE IN DENMARK / 35 in 3 rows with "108" stamped vertically next to those rows. We had the straps changed out as most were dry and cracking but have saved all of them. While this decreases the value from the original, it makes the piece usable! Glad to have discovered the info regarding this line of furniture. We're very happy with it, a good price and very comfortable.
hi, I'm new here, but I have been researching this sofa and loveseat we found and the
chair above is a perfect design match. they were left for dead in a house
my sister bought and I saved them from the burn pile. They were so beat up and the original finish was basically gone, so I have been refurbishing them. Hope someone can give me a year they were made, does not have Jason marked on them, only the rotex 35 straps. wood I believe is walnut.
