Hi Everyone,
Great forum. I am interested in purchasing a beautiful table that is listed as a Peter Hvidt design for Randers Mobelfabrik. It's an oval teak table with two extension leaves. From the research I was able to do, it looks like he worked more with Søborg Møbelfabrik than with Randers.
At the end of the day, I don't think it much matters, but just wondering if the table is more likely to be Harry Østergaard since it has the Randers stamp. Is there a difference in quality between the two manufacturers? Is there a difference in value based on the designer?
Thanks a lot.
Lange
It is definitely not Peter Hvidt and Orla Mølgaard-Nielsen. The seller knows not of which he speaks.
Based on association with Randers, your idea that it is Harry Østergaard is not unreasonable. It still needs proving, of course. And it could still certainly be wrong.
And obviously the value depends on the designer. This is why Hans Wegner fetches more money than Børge Rosenbaum.
If I were a betting man I would back Hvidt and Mølgaard at auction over Østergaard.
