Selig barrel chairs... Kofod-Larsen? I dunno...  

I will make one pitiful request for you all to forgive the fact that it must seem like I am constantly asking about weird pairs of Selig chairs... but surely somebody has seen these before? Thank you. I am sorry.

There are a few close up photos of details if you wanted to compare with yours to be 100% sure. The finger joint at the middle of the backrest support looks to be a signifying feature.

Yeah, that's the listing that I found that made me wonder. Pretty much exactly the chairs I have. The attachment of arm/backrest to the legs is so clunky. Strange.

Selig catalogs show a fair number of pieces that are not Kofod Larsen. And even some of Selig's Danish-ish chairs were English too. In fact there is a lot in the catalog that I've never even seen in photos. It is kind of surprising given that so much of the Selig product we see today is a handful of designs.. Clearly a few Kofod Larsen chairs sold very well for Selig, but the same can not be said of lots of others of his designs in the catalog. This is speculative, but I would not be surprised if Selig discontinued designs pretty quickly when they did not sell well. And if you look at the number of drawings Kofod Larsen did for G-Plan, which seem never even to have been built, it is clear that Kofod Larsen could draw furniture all day long.
Still it is a jump from them being Selig-sold to them being Kofod-Larsen-designed.

While I am not claiming to be an expert in this, we had a similar discussion on the MCM group on Facebook. The consensus seemed to be that this chair really doesn't have any of the design similarities of other Kofod Larsen chairs. Until I see a catalog or ad attributing this to Larsen i personally would assume its an American design.

I pretty strongly think it was produced in Denmark. I think this chair has the remarkable, and not gratifying ability to come off as American at a distance, but Danish up close. Those finger joints are pretty Danish:

Your probably right it is probably Danish, I had never seen a pic of those finger joints.

While I believe Selig did manufacture pieces themselves in the US, the eBay chair (which appears to be identical to the OP's chair) has a Selig medallion that says "MADE AND FINISHED IN DENMARK" AND "IMPORTED BY SELIG". This is probably a good indication that it was made in Denmark.
The only outstanding attribution issue I see is whether it was designed by Kofod Larsen. Most Danish Selig chairs of that era were, but not all.

Yeah I know I was wrong. It happens a lot. Thats why I mostly just read what everybody else posts. I'll go back to my hole now.

I will just throw them with the others and hope that I magically find some catalog some day.

Was browsing through my Furniture Forums looking for something else and came across this. These images are from the Selig section Furniture Forum Volume 13. Hard to say with 100% certainty, but they look like the barrell chair in question and it is attributed to Finn Andersen.
