Just came upon this thread. Interesting readng. When Pennsylvania was revealed as the location I wondered if Wharton Esherick might have had something to do with it.
Then an online aution house mentions that it's from California: "California Modern Style, Eames Era."
Why ? Based on what ? So that becomes the default description, accepted and done with. Is that how history is written ?
No one is able to find documentation; even 1st Dibs stays away from attribution. But the object is now "of the California school."
Tsk tsk. Wonderful chair. Note the difference in the arms between the two examples . . .
