Didnt want to include these in "pottery around the home" just to ask for an ID so thought I would start a new thread. I've looked through hundreds of marks online and can't find a thing. Look Japanese but?
I'm currently using them dor bookends in a spare bedroom.

Thanks Mark...they are a couple of my favorites too. What do you think of the impressd mark? If I could narrow down the country of origin itmwould help I think...don't recall where I purchased them but I do know it was at two different shops in two different states somewhere here in the midwest.

Hi norm.
I'm less than smart about pottery...but if you wish to discuss funky evening pants, I'm your man.
Best,
Aunt Mark
ps you have some sweet clay there.

Well you DO know pants...that's for sure. I'm more of a jeans guy but when I really want to step out I have a pair of khaki jeans:-)
Anyone have any ideas on the pottery?

How
about doing a Scottish grave rubbing on the hallmark? Take thin white paper and with the side of a pencil tip rub over the hallmark making sure that you only do it until a clear impression of the hallmark shows up. Sometimes this technique will highlight areas too hard to be seen by the eye. If it turns out well, take a pic of the rubbing.
I wish that I could see it well enough to discern the symbols in the hallmark. I can't tell if they are letters or symbols.
