Hi
This is (I think) made from Rosewood and although a familiar design I can't remember who made/designed it- please help.

I'm not an expert, but I believe it is elm wood. I was told that rosewood is very heavy recently by my friendly woodworking shop. Also rosewood has black graining in the wood.

I don't think it is rosewood. Not knowing anything about the chair it is really hard to say what wood it is.
You don't have a shot of the end grain from the top cross piece do you?

well
it's got a very Glenn of California vibe. The back is very similar in shape to their high back dining chairs, but those legs are a curve ball.
I wonder if these aren't older? 1930's? American?
