Hi,
I bought this nice acrylic lounge chair from a lady in Berlin.
She said that she had aquired it in 1974...

Although I am quite familiar with 70ies design I have never seen this chair.
Anyone any idea about it?

Thanks a lot,
best regards from Austria
michael

My first reaction was...
My first reaction was Wendell Castle. I don't recall him ever doing anything this transparent. Chair must be by someone else.
Critiquing the chair in the photo, it's remarkable. Probably the truest transparent chair I've seen yet. It's as if air itself was given form. Compliments your setting beautifully! Hope you plan on keeping it. Lady purchased from must have been an impression as well.

Reminds me of a Toga chair...
Reminds me of a Toga chair by Sergio Mazza. Sure I have seen this chair before, will have to dig deep in the memory bank!

Thanks a lot for your replies!
Thanks a lot for your suggestions!
(And for the kind words -- yes, it really is a very nice piece of furniture, I think 😉
To make things a little bit clearer -- I bought it on ebay from the lady in Berlin, and had to collect it there and transport it 600km to Vienna (but it was worth it...)
It's funny that both Wendell Castle and Sergio Mazza (especially the famous TOGA chair) came in my mind when I first saw this chair.
So it seems to be inspired by these designers...
Most probably it is of French or British origin - they have done a lot of great acrylic items there.
So, keep on researching please 😉
Best regards from Vienna
michael
