I found an ad selling a Pastoe swivel chair but it looks exactly like an Overman Pod chair. The add shows the Pastoe sticker on the bottom. I don't know that Pastoe did anything like the pod chair but if they did, why would it be exactly (to me) like the Overman chair. Is this a fake Pastoe/Overman? any thoughs?

The body of the chair sure looks like Overman to me, except that the section of vinyl on the front under the seat looks like it's done slightly differently than on an Overman.
But the base is definitely done differently.  On Overmans, the cambric (the lightweight fabric that covers the underneath of the chair) covers the prongs or whatever they're called.  All you see is the center post coming out of the chair.  I think the post itself is different than those on Overmans.  At least it's different than the one in front of me.
There was--and still are--a lot of copies and "inspired by" designs out there.  I don't know anything about Pastoe beyond that one dining chair that looks like the McCobb chair---which I guess says something right there.

Spanky, Pastoe was an authentic brand with nice inhouse designs.Indeed they weren't blind for international movements. For instance Cees Braakmanvisited the US and was impressed with the Eames designs. He went on to useplywood in his combex series.
Pastoe also imported a lot of scandinavian stuff, for instance swedese or askoand possible also overman.
They did this to broathen their catalogue and play it out to a larger public of customersI assume.
