I am restoring a nest of three G Plan tables. Each has the number 402 carved on the underside of the table top. What is the significance of this? Thanks

Mulla Nasrudin sat fishing in a bucket of water. A visitor, wishing to be friendly, asked, "How many have you caught?" "YOU ARE THE NINTH," said Nasrudin.

I guess some sensible comments would be too much to ask for?

Passive agressivity won't get you answers.
Do your tables look like these? Are you hoping to determine the designer of your G Plan tables?

I am saying I don't think you will determine much from the cryptic writing on the bottom.

Thanks for all your comments - no passive agressivity intended - I simply didn't understand the answers. Yes, the tables look just like those pictured. I wondered if there was any significance to the numbers engraved underneath. I guess the answer is probably that they are not significant.
If any of you guys know your way around slightly earlier stuff, can you have a look at my posting on 26th January about art deco chairs - again, any help would be appreciated.
Thanks again.
Simon

I imagine the 402 marks have to do with the model #. The tables are part of the Quadrille line, as far as I understand. Quadrille was designed by Roger Bennett. Here's a drawing by him (signed at bottom):
