Not much to report yet. Sent an email to the reference desk at Syracuse Public Library wondering if they might have anything related to Gaylord Brothers in their collection as Syracuse was the location of their manufacturing plant. Didn't find anything specific from their suggestions but they were very helpful and quick to reply:

Also, saw this on the mid_century subreddit: http://imgur.com/a/zRENc While these are quite easy to identify (still have tags), I was just wondering if anyone else had the webbing on the bottom of their chairs? My chairs have a solid base without webbing and couldn't see where there ever had been any.
I'll try to poke around a little more today and check up on Gaylord Brothers. I know that nugget of proof is out there somewhere! 🙂

I would say the dots are basically connected. It would be nice to see that final bit of confirmation though.

Found out there was a Gaylord Brothers furniture manufacturing plant in Sanford, North Carolina and possibly also in Stockton, CA. There is still an address and phone number for the Sanford plant but I've been unable to contact anyone there (phone number just rings--no email address). I would say that North Carolina would probably be a safe bet for the birthplace of some walnut chairs but still lack the proof. Emailed the CEO of Gaylord hoping for some confirmation but again, haven't heard anything. I guess we're in the "hurry up and wait" phase...

I found a similar set of Jens Risom chairs on line for a rediculous $1,261.00 a piece. Are these chairs really that valuable? I never mentioned in my original post that my wife found our chair on the side of the road with a "Free" sign on it!

If I could get $1200 for my chair, I might consider parting with it. I'm not holding my breath, though. My gut is that on a very good day with a very motivated buyer, I might hope for $300 for it.

These chairs are fairly common, as they were likely used in many libraries across the US.

These are Risom I think for sure. So these are Gaylord Brothers, is that the consensus?

Sorry I was on mobile and the pictures of the chairs did not upload. So I got these two chairs as well as 4 armless ones that are all marked with the GB. I was told they were not labeled, but when we were moving them I saw this make and instantly thought of this thread. These are "Playboy" chairs right?

Not conclusive, since you don't have one side-by-side with a known Risom Playboy chair, but we do know Risom used GB (Gaylord Brothers?) to make the armchair discussed above, and yours look like Risom chairs, also marked with GB--very strong evidence that they're legit Risom. Nice set! I love the cane backs on them.
