It was manufactured by James Inc. which is apparently Thayer Coggin's first company? The chair looks like Milo's recliner, however it does not have a pop-out footrest. Instead it has an ottoman/footrest that does not look like other Milo footrest I've seen (possibly not orignal to the piece?). Pictures attached for your judgement. Any thoughts are appreciated.

I don't know who designed the chair but it looks a lot like a couple of Scandinavian designs. I had a Norwegian chair that was nearly identical to yours. I would guess it's not Thayer-Coggin, just based on my admittedly limited knowledge of T-C designs having their own style and not being this closely inspired by specific Scandinavian chairs.
The upholstery has been redone and the ottoman definitely is not original to the chair. The chair probably had an ottoman with a tilt top, plus the leg profile would have matched that of the chair. My chair had also lost its ottoman and I had a terrible time finding one to match the style of the chair.
I emailed Thayer Coggin and got the following response:
"These were designed as yours is done. The pin would secure so it didn't move and if you pulled the pin it "rocked".
It was called the Octolounger. The chair and ottoman were sold separately and are Thayer Coggin pieces.
We checked our archives and do not see an ottoman like yours. It may not be original to the chair, but has some similarities in style. We are not able to confirm the ottoman is
Thayer Coggin, but they did sell ottomans with the chair. "
Have any of you guys heard the "Octolounger" name before? I was happily surprised at how quickly Thayer responded, it was much appreciated.
