I spotted this on Craigslist and the seller said he was just going to use it for firewood if nobody came and got it. Obviously couldn't let that happen. There's no markings other than a note written in pencil saying "Irene from Rog Feb 1963" which I thought was pretty cool. Looking to get an idea who made this and also where to find correct replacement straps where the cushion is held.

It looks like some Yugoslavian-made lounge chairs that someone had me make cushions for a few years ago but I didn't take photos so I can't say for sure. The wood has that same look, though---appears to be a walnut-colored lacquer over a lighter wood like beech or something. I don't believe there's any way to touch up that scratch on the arm rest. If it is a tinted lacquer you may be best off stripping and refinishing completely. (Just be aware that if it's beech, it won't take conventional stain well.)
As for the straps, those side to side ones were added by the homeowner, probably after the front to back straps started to sag and become uncomfortable. You can just redo the originals and leave the side to side straps out as was done when the chair was made.

I figured that repairing the worn off stain was out of the question so I began taking it apart and sanding it down. My wood ID skills are lacking so I'm not sure what exactly the chair is made out of.

Feel free to post a few clear photos in this thread of the wood from different parts of the chair when you get it all sanded down. People here are very helpful with wood ID.

Here's a photo of some of the sanded wood.

A picture of Rog and Irene would probably help.

I am reasonably confident that is elm, which -probably- indicates the chair is American made, instead of Yugoslavian. A bit sharper photo and I would be certain....
