Hi All,
As MCM furniture is a new-found love of my husband, we're just learning how to identify the various features involved in design of this world.
We purchased these pieces a couple of weeks ago, and since then have spent a ridiculous amount of time online trying to find matching pieces even if just to get a more accurate description. The side table has the "Mainline by Hooker" mark in a drawer, but not the dresser. Does the stencil on the back mean anything to you? I've dug and dug for info on the history of Mainline by Hooker, and only come up with bits and pieces. Are there catalogs available from that time?
A few item descriptions that I'm totally lost on:
Is there a name for the sliding door over the middle compartment?
What are the spring-loaded casters called in the base of the dresser?
How do you describe the pieced veneer that reflects a different color depending on the angle it is viewed from?
Is there a term for using multiple wood type veneers?
And what is this glowing ombre-like finish?
(One of the vertical drawer pulls was broken so we played switch-a-roo with the side table and replaced the small knob pulls with something temporary.)
Also, what are good resources for info on MC and MCM design so I'm not bugging the forum every time I have a question?
