This photo is not of my chair. Mine is exactly the same, however, only in black. I also have the original ottoman which is round and on the same type of base. The photo shown is the only one I have found in my research. It is attributed to Dansk Mobler, which I believe is in New Zealand.
I was fortunate to get it from the original owner, so I do have some info. Purchased in 1969 while in Indosesia. He said, because Indonesia was so remote, a company there imported its furniture from Denmark. He was certain about it being Denmark, which belies the Dansk Mobler idea as far as I can tell.
I have found a few other chairs with the same base. They say they're Danish, but no designer/maker info. I'm hopeful that someone on here may have some reference materials that I don't have access to.
Thanks for any info you can offer. I'm always amazed at the wealth of knowledge and resources around here.

I am afraid that base may be an "off the shelf" item. So it may not be very helpful. You might look at Vejen, ERAN, and Bramin. Might be one of theirs, maybe.

Not sure if this adds anything, but I found this one which is the same design in cloth and on a different base. It also has the round ottoman.

Here's one with the same base. Even though, as Leif pointed out, the base may not tell the best story, maybe recognizing the designer/maker of one that shares the same base might offer a clue?
