Good evening. I recently bought a piece that was marked in the Rago Auction catalog as "lidded vessel, Germany." But no one at the auction house could be more specific as to its maker. It's well marked, but I can't seem to find any information on the marks. I've attached a few pictures. Any ideas? Thanks, Kermit

hoagierocket,
The mark is similar to Wiener Werkstätte. Nice piece.

hoagierocket,
Thank you. I hope this will lead you to a source more familiar with your lidded jar's mark and Wiener Werkstätte work and they may assist you in determining the manufacture. Again, nice jar.

The mark on your bowl and the Wiener Werkstatte mark do indeed both have a W but that's where the similarity ends. I don't see anything in a google image search of "Wiener Werkstatte ceramics" (or pottery) that looks anything like your lidded bowl.
I'm not real great at deciphering marks but I would guess that it's a W I, and maybe a V too, in the overall shape. That's not much to go on!
It looks like it could be contemporary to me but maybe it has some age to it that isn't obvious in the photos.
