I usually try to find a related thread to add on to, but thought it made sense to start a new one for this post.Just picked up a mid century armchair off of craigslist today. There was only one photo in the listing for "mid century chair", but I thought I had IDed it beforehand as Japanese-made by Kosuga. It has nice mid century lines similar to some Erik Kirkegaard and Gunlocke chairs. However upon pickup, I saw a tag underneath that said "Jamestown Lounge Co", a company that I had never heard of. Upon subsequent internetting, it appears someone named Jack Van Der Molen designed for Jamestown Lounge. Neither party turns up in any DA searches. The Jamestown Lounge and Kosuga chairs are very similar, with the following differences that I can tell so far:1. Jamestown has a contoured fiberglass base for the cushioned seat, while Kosuga is flat plywood.2. Seat framing is different.3. Leg bases are different.4. Jamestown has oak framing with a walnut stain. Kosuga looks to be walnut stain on a different hardwood.I also found a photo online of a similar all-oak chair, including contoured seat and backrest. I assume this is a variation of my Jamestown chair.Maybe someone will come along in the future and fill in some more info on Jamestown Lounge, Jack Van Der Molen, or Kosuga.(Jamestown Lounge chairs shown in this post, Kosuga chairs will be in a following post)
