Hi there: I am hoping to get some information on this teak laminate credenza/sideboard. Its pretty generic but includes a sticker that includes Art Furn Made in Denmark. The measurements are about 48" long 331/2" tall and 18" deep. Its a pretty simple desighn so I doubt there is a clear designer associated with the piece, but would appreciate any information about the production or anything anyone might know. Thanks!!
Your photo is too dark for me to discern any real details such as the door pulls. Does it have tamboured doors?
From what I can see of the design, the label and the color and quality of the teak, I suspect it is the kind of piece which was being sold in Scan Design stores in the 70s and 80s.
Nailed it @niceguy
As for you @Pegboard Modern; doors arent tamboured just standard sliding doors. I will try to get better detailed pictures when I get a chance.
When you say Scan Designs, do you mean the one based in Western Canada or the one in Florida or another? (its a pretty common name for a furniture store). I assume that its a rather generic design that was imported into North America and a sticker slapped on it. Im hoping someone might have an idea based on the sticker, but its probably not going to yield any great insight ;/
Thanks
While I can't help much, I posted a similar thread awhile back trying to get information on Art Furn. I had a set of dining chairs in the style of Borge Mogensen. They had the same label that you show above, but upon close inspection they had a feel of late 70's or 80's scan design. Your credenza has a 60's danish feel with the look and execution of 70s or 80s. I researched rather exhaustively and came up with zilch, but I'll keep an eye on this thread, and hopefully some more info on Art Furn will surface.
JohnQ, what part of the country are you in? In the Baltimore/DC area there is a lot of vintage and newer Danish furniture from these six Scan stores that folded in 2007:

(I've seen quite few Erik Buch chairs with the Greenbelt Cooperative name on them, for what it's worth.)
Hey @spanky; Im located in Western Canada; which, curiously has its own Scan Designs which I believe is entirely unrelated, and doesnt really carry stuff like this. I bet what you and some others have said is correct, its a generic, department store "inspired by" piece probably from the 70's. Im not overly fussed, its a decent piece we got for a steal; I wonder how legitimate the companies such as this are, or if there are sort of warehouse where importers slapped a vague "made in Denmark" stickers on pieces.
