I'm new to this. I bought this chair because I thought it was a beautiful shape. It's large (seat almost 1m x 65cm)and it's great to sit on - it swivels, tilts and rocks.

I've searched the web and haven't seen anything like it. Whislt searching I caught the designer chair bug and would be fascinated to learn anything anyone might have to offer about this chair - designer / age /country of origin etc. Many thanks in advance for any contributions.

Does the construction really say Overman?
I really am new to this. I forgot to state that the chair is constructed in plywood. I thought that Overman chairs were generally fibreglass and(thick)foam(?)

You are right Janey, but the base really is identical to Overman. Maybe they were experimenting with other materials? I would say the organic shape, at least, could be a common denominator with typical Overman Designs.

Whitespike - thank you very much for the clarification.
Whitespike - thank you very much for the clarification. I've now read past DA forum posts on Overman with great interest! I'll follow the leads to see if I can pin point a designer. A great help from a great forum - thank you.

OK.....
OK..... Thanks to this forum I've learnt that it's unlikely I'll ever find out who designed my chair due to the nature of Overmans 'knock-off' design operation.
But I have to say I think the designer of my chair clearly had an interest in line and form, whereas I think the designer of your chair may have had other concerns.

Norwegian perhaps? The tilt mechanism looks very similar to some of the Vitra/Eames and Hans Brattrud bases that were manufactured in Norway. Might be worth going down that route?

Norwegian base suggestion...
Nick R60 or anyone.
Ought I to read the Norwegian suggestion as relating to my chair - the original post - or does it specifically relate to the(tilt?)chair in the new post above? Thank you.
(Close-up my base).
