I've been offered a dining set by (i.e. claimed) Hovmand Olsen. The chairs are easily identified. The table however is unmarked, and therefore I am not sure whether this could be Hovmand Olsen or not.. Could anyone advise me on this?

One of my first Danish Modern acquisitions was a Hovmand Olsen teak dining table by Hovmand Olsen Design (not Mogens Kold). While most of the details are different (tapered square legs, table top vertically aligned with rails, and no dovetail joints for the corner blocking), the rails do step down in depth a few inches away from the legs, similar to yours. For my table, the step occurs on the top side of the rail to create a floating table top effect, especially when the draw leafs are open. It is a nice compliment to my floating seat Erik Buck chairs.
Take a good look at all the underside framing to see if you can find a burned makers mark.
