I recently aquired this Herman Miller table.  I'm unsure what to call it.  It peaks in the middle and slants down evenly on both sides.  It is not adjustable.  Im guessing it must be some sort of library reading table or drawing table?  It has two different medallion stickers - one on the base and one on the underside of the top.  One label says Action Office.  Does this mean it was a George Nelson design?  I purchased this at auction in Grand Rapids, MI.

You had posted this inquiry before and your table is part of the Action Office 1 system (1964) designed and developed by ROBERT PROPST under the supervision of George Nelson (see hermanmiller.com).
It is not a prototype table if this is the response you are seeking.  It may seem unusual in form but very typical modification made by Herman Miller to accomodate very specific contract client/projects.
Use it for what it is or replace the top with an Action Office 1 laminate or wood veneer table top to make it useable as a work, dining or conference table or re-purpose it for something else.
My old neighbor used to have one that have deposit and withdrawal slip slots and envelope drop box for a no longer existing bank...and never had a thought that it was a prototype or special piece...customized, maybe....and it worked as a re-purposed tall desk.
My local public library still have the original card catalogs and open shelving for books and periodicals using the same Action Office 1 system..
Since you are closer in Grand Rapids, MI, have you tried to contact someone at Herman Miller in Zeeland, MI to get more the information you are looking for?

This is a library table, it is pictured in a room setting on page 11 of the book CLASSIC HERMAN MILLER.
"The Herman Miller Library Group meets the specialized demands of library display and storage with sturdy human factored environments."
