Dear all,
Last week I saw 'Beginners'. Large part of this movie takes place in the famous Richard Neutra house. I like the way they have furnished the living room.
In this living room they have placed a large sculpture in front of a window. It looks like the sculpture is made from stone (granite?) or wood and it has a large head on top of a long neck. I have added a picture of the living room as they used it in the movie.
Does anybody know where this sculpture comes from? what country? What designer? What the sculpture is made of? Where I can purchase such a sculpture or a similar one?
Hope someone can help!
Thanks in advance!

I just posted above thread.
The images were extremely big. Sorry! So I have deleted them.
Just click on the link below to see the pics of the sculpture on the site of the LA Times.

looks
like wood to me as well......if it is wood I cant imagine things like that are hard to find. Hope this doesn't come across as insulting but looks like something you could come across in Home Goods.

Contemporary or modern African?
Maybe even old?
Decidedly phallic.
Not to be insulting, but jdip's comment reminds me of a refrain we all heard ad nauseum in art shool regarding abstract work.
OTOH, I could fashion a reasonable facsimile without much trouble for a nominal fee!

Excellent film
Just watched it yesterday.
The sculpture looks like an African post of some sort.

I do
Not agree that it is african. It looks like mid century ceramic, stone, travertin sculpture to me. A bit based on primitieve from, but probably just a contemporary artist from that era

It is wood
I am fairly certain it is a Dogon post or of some other related tribe (see the enlarged photo). Probably not "authentic", but made in Africa for the collector market (I collected this type of stuff for several years).
