Update of Question... Any Idea Of Type of Wood & Designer???
Need everyone's help to ID these chairs - Just bought them a set of 6 Danish Teak Chairs dating about 60's I guess. They are no markings that I can find. Nice sleek design - back leg is one piece - flairs out to the back & the section goes all the way up to the top of the back section of the chair. Back section has a great big curve - seat also has a slight curve. All are in good condition & I believe original black upolstry. ANY IDEA'S??? Thanks for you're help - time - and efforts

Thanks I will check that out - I also found that they may be Skandenburg - examples are very close - with exception the skandenburg chairs have a side bar on the side - and these do not ( maybe 1st Design or a redesign? )The chairs I have show that there was never a side bar on these??? Thanks Again. Rbjr

Type of wood
Hi rjbr
The chairs are in burma teak which is a darker cousin of the teak we all see.
Many times used as a substitue for the then more expensive rosewood.
Korup stolefabrik did their own designs and IU have never known or found evidence of any specific architect working for them.
Lots of factories in Denmark had their own design which normally came from the head of the owner in responce to seing things at fairs and shows but mostly from wanting the be slightly different from the competition.
Hans, who owned Jerlev møbelfabrik, was exactly that kind of owner. HE produced sofas and chairs and i spent many a times in the factory seeing who wood from one end ended up as a sofa at the other end through the processes inbetween.
these are some of his chairs
