Its been brought up and discussed many times, the last big one was Whitespikes prompting.
I like sharing knowledge and learning from otheres but if someone isn't prepared to do the tiniest bit of googling or book buying and gives nothing in return other than a cursory 'thanks' and never contributes to the forum again why the f%^k should anyone bother? Its a two way street. At the very least tell us about how you got something or why you like it or what you're going to do with it or ask how it was made, Anything! Genuine enthusiam and information that would provide a bit more space for discussion other than 'who' or 'how much'.
I don't want to sound like the old man who walked 20 miles to school but years ago knowledge was worked pretty hard for, libraries visited, thousands of dollars worth of books bought, dealers, galleries and manufacturers visted etc etc. When you just get a name from an internet forum and thats it well its pretty shallow isn't it? No discussion, never pointed in the direction of similar designers, learn nothing about techniques, wood or leather or proportions or anything else.

I dont think its a big deal when people ask for ID's. I think everyone learns something from them. Hell, I have fun doing the google searches. The problem is that if someone has never seen the chair before where will they begin? Typing "danish chair" etc into google will bring up tons of pages. I do agree though that if this person or other people were to do that they would actually gain a lot of knowledge as you see a lot of stuff during these searches.

fruit bowl?
The 60s photo I saw was that same size ottoman-like piece but with a huge bowl in it.
I also saw in person the base for it and it didn't have cleats or anything for a cushioned piece to sit on or anything on which to anchor a webbing base for a cushion. It was in a friend's shop and I had puzzled over it awhile, then finally asked him about it and he showed me the photo in a book.
Anyway, so was the bowl intended for fruit? It seemed pretty huge for that function. Like 32" across, maybe. (Not that I have a clue as to any other function it may have had.)

Cool down bud! I see your posts on DA all the time and I actually read all of them as if you're one of the modern-day MCM furniture gods. I'm trying to be funny but certainly not sarcastic. We need people like you, woodywood, whitespike, Pegboard, robert1960, lunchbox, etc...
One day I'll be as quick to ID items as fast as you.

My knowledge isn't especially good, anyway if this is the way IDs are I don't suppose theres much that can be done about it but I will say that if you were to type in 'buttoned cushion leather slung armrests danish chair design' the chair is visible in image search and you see a lot of other interesting pieces too.
