Hi, has anyone ever come across these stools before?...three legged nickel plated base, with teak veneered plywood seat element.....legs are Jacobsen in style, seat is Mogen Lassen in style...Im assuming they're Danish....too nice for British but do have a John & Sylvia Reid look to the bases....Any help would be appreciated
Thanks

thank you so much for the information. It appears Astor Glibstrup is hard to find any information about.

Yeah, I doubt you are going to find much about either him or the company. These stools very much had the look of generic until jesgord pulled a rabbit out of his hat.

Leif, Rabbit indeed. I was actually looking for the Willy Beck table when I came across this 😉

That page in your catalog has gotten a good workout. I recognize the top half from my "curious case of the two Fredericias" thread.

Leif-you are 100% correct. Its an odd little catalog-I believe it was put out by the Danish Government, Tourist Bureau, Handicrafts Guild or the like. Furniture, housewares, etc. It has some odd/rare birds.

cdsilva-I'll collect on mine when/if I can ever find anything on your table.....so far, I have had no luck. That said, based on what I have seen and what Leif has shared with me, I suspect his attribution is correct.

Does the veneer look like maybe rosewood to anyone besides me?
I've never seen them before, but I'm really liking everything about them. That there are three that have survived intact as a set makes them somehow better, too.
And this thread is another example of what makes this forum is so great. You guys are amazing. Thank you!

When I look at them I see teak.

Hi, thanks for all the info, on closer inspection I think they may be in Palisander Veneer....the grain and figuring is too fanciful for teak....yeah nice to have a set of three, although not sure what I'm going to do with them as running out of space at home....if I were to try selling them, do you think this would be a good site on which to do so?
kind regards

Sure list them for sale on this site.
And I am curious where you are seeing fanciful grain. You obviously have a better view, but in the photos I see fairly straight grained teak. How about some nice sharp close ups of the interesting grain?
