I own the 2 Erwin Lambeth can lounge chairs pictured. I bought them 3-4 years ago at an estate/yard sale. At that time, I don't think they had ever been used. All original fabri, the foam in the cushions was rock hard, and not a scratch on the wood or cane. I have been doing some research on these chairs, as I am going to be selling them. During that research, the only chairs I could find like mine were two pair of chairs listed as Harvey Probber chairs. See links and pictures. The final is a pic of my chair and one of the prober chairs side-by-side. I find them to be identical, with the exception of the cushion, and my cushion is original. Before anyone tells me that 1stdibs is incredibly overpriced, I already know that. I'm am only using these listings for identification purposes. As they were the only chairs I could find in any search engine like mine. I've also been told 1stdibs is a good source for identification purposes. https://www.1stdibs.com/furniture/seating/lounge-chairs/pair-of-cane-armchairs-harvey-probber-c-1960/id-f_831551/ https://www.1stdibs.com/furniture/seating/club-chairs/beautiful-pair-of-walnut-cane-lounge-club-chairs-harvey-probber/id-f_1103424/ So my questions...Did Harvey Probber do design work for Erwin Lambeth? If not, do you think the 1stdibs listings incorrectly attributed the chairs to Probber? What other explanations can you come up with? From a pricing standpoint does it make a big difference (Erwin Lambeth vs Harvey Probber)? Thanks in advance for your assistance. Any other in site on these would also be greatly appriciated.

Did Harvey Probber do design work for Erwin Lambeth?
No
If not, do you think the 1stdibs listings incorrectly attributed the chairs to Probber?
Yes
What other explanations can you come up with?
Wishful thinking on the part of the dealer.
From a pricing standpoint does it make a big difference (Erwin Lambeth vs Harvey Probber)?
Not a BIG difference, but a difference. Probber was a well known and respected designer. Erwin Lambeth was a quality manufacturer, but their output does not have the same designer cashe'.
For the record I am not sure 1stdibs is overpriced. It represents a high retail asking price. And if you are the sort of person who wants a very specific rare item, now, then you will probably have to acquire it at high retail, from a seller who has been holding on to it for a very long time waiting just for you.
So you just have to understand what the price represents. It isn't an antique mall price, or an auction price, or a garage sale price. All those venues live on much faster sales. And it would be exceedingly rare to go visit one of them and find a specific very rare, highly desirable item.
Also, for the record, there is a lot of "wishful thinking" on 1stdibs in the cases of certain sellers. So it isn't generally a good place to find solid identifications for unknown pieces.
