I purchased this loveseat from a second-hand store a few years ago because it was cheap and I liked the way it looked. I thought that someday I'd have the filling replaced and use it in my audio room. When I bought it the shop owner said that they sold the matching full-sized sofa that accompanied it a few weeks earlier.
Sadly, the padding is mostly powderized. The original green fabric has some minor issues, but it's in reasonable enough condition that I'd keep it. Anyway, I'm clearing things out and decided that I need to make a move by either selling it or having it restored, so I did some research today. After studying a couple dozen pics of full-sized Dunbar 5407 party sofas on auction sites and 1st Dibs I'm pretty sure that this is an original Ed Wormley Dunbar piece. Except for the length everything looks identical. Even the internal construction that can be seen through the bottom dust cover matches the one underneath pic that I found. What I can't seem to find anywhere is a smaller size example. My two-seater has a 42" wide seating area, and the outside length across the top is 64". The height and depth match the 5407 sofas that I found online.
I wonder if anyone knows whether Dunbar put a love seat version into regular production? Perhaps this was custom-made for the original owner. Could my deflated looking love seat that I've been using as a table for my laundry baskets be a rare version of a mid-century classic? Any help or information would, as always, be appreciated! Thanks!!!

rich, there is not really "regular production" Dunbar sofas. While the catalog cites dimensions and many pieces were made in the sizes offered, every piece of Dunbar furniture was custom ordered and made for the buyer.
There are many Wormley designs made by Dunbar which did not vary in dimension like iconic tables and chairs (though wood selection, color, finish, and upholstery might be different) there are many, many pieces which appear in a wide variety of sizes. This is because they were made to order per a designer's or customer's specifications. I've found this especially true of case goods and sofas.
Think about it. If you are furnishing your house and you love a particular sofa made by Dunbar but the catalog shows it at a size 5 or 6 inches too long for your space, couldn't you easily ask that it be made shorter? Especially if it is being made specifically for you rather than pre-fabricated and just taken off the shelf?
The upholstery and construction details of your sofa look correct to me, if the height, depth and seat height all are the same as other model 5407 sofas, I'd be comfortable saying it is a Dunbar piece.
