Hi there, I am currently looking to purchase an Eames ea108 but I have run into few problems when trying to identify which chairs are made by which manufacturer.
With the original Herman Miller made chairs I have been told that they always have:
A Herman Miller casting stamp with logo
Allen key screws to tighten the fabric
4 grub screws holding the rear handle in place
This is where the situation becomes all the more confusing as Herman Miller started to make the components in house and then ship them to Vitra in Italy where they would assemble, supposedly. Therefore this would mean that some chairs have the herman miller casting stamp but with a cross head screw on the fabric tightening component meaning that they are officially Vitra chairs not Herman Miller.
Is any of this correct as I am being told multiple things from different people and I would like to secure a chair with the correct history to go with the price.
Thank you very much for reading this and i would appreciate any help on the matter!!
Yours
Henry
