Hello, I have been hesitant to post these here as I am sure they are not super high end or anything, but I do like the style of them and they are constructed well. I am going to recover the seats this weekend. Does anyone recognize the design? Seems more art deco maybe. It has been postulated that the makings under the seat may indicated D-62- December 1962 manufacture date, W-1987= walnut and 790-7 is a possible model number, but I have no clue.
I am terrible with wood ID so I though these were Oak or Maple, but I have been covinced they are probably a light walnut.
Thanks in advance for any help.

Stylistically the chair has good lines specially the back and you are right , it is one of the better looking ones in this genre/style. How does it look from viewed from the back?
It is not Art Deco but more like the watered down modern American colonial style (Chippendale ladder back) borrowed by many furniture makers in the 1950s and embraced by more conservative consumers because it is more familiar and not too modern.
The wood could be ash or elm (?) similar to the bleached/blond finish light woods used by Drexel (Precedent, Today's Living, etc.) during that time. If you the have the time and skills to refinish the wood too and the construction looks simple/uncomplicated in terms of wood sanding by hand (fine to super fine) and 2 coats of clear coats is all the chair frame needs.
