So...I have found this very well made chair that is hand signed and dated on the bottom Dick Wickman 1985. Through my research I have found like one or two pieces of his furniture online but very little info and no chairs at all. I am hoping that someone may know a little more about this piece.....thanks in advance!

That's a pretty chair but is there something going on with the seat or is that just the photograph? Dick Wickman has nice furniture but I find his use of antlers and mother of pearl offensive. I'd hold onto the chair if for no other reason than potential future collectability. Should be interesting.
Contact the Racine Art Museum for information.
The cushion does have a few wear spots and it has velcro tape on the bottom and velcro an the wood top of the seat to keep the cushion in place. I am guessing that is what you are seeing...Does anyone know anything about Dick Wickman...is he still alive. By Googling his name I did come up with a studio in Madison Wisconsin, but no website, only an address and phone number..I would like to know more about this piece......
Dick Wickman was a mysterious character. He went off to the Korean war and came back a different man. After trying out his talents as a fur coat salesman, he latched onto a small but scrappy advertising firm in New York, where his charm, wit, and striking good looks helped him rise quickly to the top, and garner himself plenty of tail. He did have many demons to face in his personal life, but last I checked, he seems to have finally found peace at the end . . .as well as a Coke.
So you know that Dick Wickman crafted this chair out of tiger maple. Likely a one off and called it the Zephyr You also know the year of manufacture:1985. Through google you know it was made in Wisconsin.
That's a crap load of info. 10x more than the typical ID post on the forum.
What else would you like to know?
