Anybody recognize this desk? I saw it at a thrift store and snapped some pictures and thought I would ask the board first. I didn't see any markings.
Thanks!

The way your question is posed makes me wonder about your sense of "self".
What do YOU think?
(and why?)

heavymetalsculpture, ive seen these desks around before. Heavy well made American but nothing special or by any particular designer. If you like it, buy it.
As for objectworship, ignore her/him. They are the resident super cool hipster who typically posts 'edgy' reponses and uses 'bad' language for attention. He/she would probably go unnoticed in any other forum, but because of the relative obscurity of this forum and the average age of the userbase here its enough to make objectworship feel special.

I'm the oldest aged poster here. I average between the age of 50 and 60, but I smell like I'm 40...and wonder occasionally about my own sense of "self". hms and object are perfect participants to this fab forum (just like you are too, sofia), and both equally qualify as super cool hipsters. If only they had experience in asphalt application, I'd date either of them. Now as usual, I could never provide an ID for this battleship, it certainly looks to be very sturdy and practical. I think that objects response was mis-interpreted, just like my lovely orange Lilly Pulitzer ensemble that I wore last evening. I like pink. I like you. I like _________.
Best,
Aunt Mark

I obviously liked the desk, hence why I took pictures of it and went through the effort to try and get it identified. If I had the room for it I would have bought it then and there. I trust the advice I receive on this forum, which is why I brought it to your attention. If the forum advised me it was something special and worthy of picking up at a thrift store price - then I would, regardless if I had the room for it or not. I recognized the pull handles from an image I saw on here a while back, and was hoping someone else did as well.
Now...back to reflecting on,

Wow, THE resident super cool hipster? That is awesome, thank you so much sophia! The more democratic approach to "cool" alluded to by Mark above is probably the better one, however-
To clarify, the point I was making up there^ was that the approval of or by or from others isn't the best gauge to assess a thing by. Would you permit someone else to decide your favorite color?
I would not.

I'm color blind. And tonight's trousers (lent to me by Eameshead) are a half inch too long. And they are yellow. Shoes. Yup. Belt.

You are all silly. Hi. Let's have a drink...my tab.
Also, my yellow pants smell "vintage" weird, I like the desk, I am wearing a solid yellow jacket tonight, the desk looks very practical and easy to use, It would look good with a Time Life desk chair in green leather, I blame Ray, I especially like the drawer hardware placement on the desk drawers, easy to dust designed, I just broke a wine glass, music is borderline loud, wearing pink tomorrow, you'd need a big space for that desk, paper towels are one of the best inventions, red meat is red, art is an infection, people keep their cars and their _______ in similar condition, the desk has a pull out tray, I dig that, good for rolling, also good for chopping meat, I like clunky pieces and people, just not shoes. I like vodka.
Hi,

Mark is cool, objectworship is often funny, and I don't like that desk much and here's why:
It has that tanker look which I very much like, but only on one side. The tapered legs on the right thrrow it off balance.
The wood looks dull and maybe has a tad too much green undertone for my sensibilities.
The pulls remind me of my front door handle, which I also very much like but not so much on a desk drawer. Also they have that antiqued brass look which I hate, period.
The edge profile and the radius of the rounded corners on the top remind me of cheap laminate kitchen tables.
If I was going to get a big desk, it'd be one of these. Actually, I did get one of these once with the intent to strip it and polish the steel and sell it for $$$ but of course I never got around to it and now I don't even remember how I got rid of it.
