I just picked up this sculpture but where the signature should be it just has a few dark spots as if it has worn off. This sculpture is not in the usual brass color that I have seen before it is metal without the brass, copper color. Can someone confirm this to be a C.Jere ?

Hi there.
I'd say that your lovely non-brutalist metal wall sculpture was not manufactured by Curtis Jere. I base this primarily on the welding, and pom attachment method to the metal rod. Jere poms are attached to a small metal rectangle, then attached to the rod. But I'm usually wrong.
Best,
Aunt Mark

The pom itself should be welded to a thin rectangular piece of metal, and then that is welded to the thick steel rod. The end result is a much cleaner look from behind.
I guess,

Mark,
The above photo is of a known Jere Pom Pom wall sculpture there is no difference between the two. Do you have a picture that you could post illustrating this rectangular piece?
Thanks

You seem to think that Mark needs to prove his opinion by looking up and posting pictures. Really? He twice told you what he thinks and why. If you disagree, then you have the (unsigned, wrong finish) piece in your possession, and you can easily take it somewhere and get a paid appraisal for it. Which you should undoubtedly do since you don't seem to appreciate free advice.

Good morning.
I have forwarded a picture of your sculpture to a local art dealer who specializes in Jere items. He already mentioned to me something about the way that the poms are attached (not the cleanest application...), however the metal rings (used to attach the piece to the wall) appear correct. Jere certainly manufactured a pom-pom sculpture similar to yours, but it was available only in brass/bronze tones. Post a picture of the mostly missing signature, and the dimensions... and I'll forward it along. And don't forget to feed the birds.
Happy holidays,
Aunt Mark

Thank you for your help. I have submitted pictures and dimensions to Artisanhouse for authentication.

Happy Holidays Everybody,
I have one of these Jere Pom Pom/Urchin wall sculptures in my collection. Here is a couple pictures of mine, if you want to use it as a comparable. I can take some measurements too, if you need them.

Peruche,
Thank you for those awesome photos. I think between finding the Artisan House tear sheet and your photos I'm convinced of its authenticity. It is obviously a new release of the earlier version.
Will confirm with Artisan House still though. I'm a little surprised at the hostility on this board when all I wanted was to understand the information I was being given. Oh well best to all, and Happy Holidays.

We must be reading different threads, because I saw a lot of assistance and information provided to you in less than 24 hours. I guess different people have different perspectives of the same thing.

Mark,
Thank you for the assistance. We all learn something new everyday..... the finish to this piece really threw me off but the detail and weight to it made me think authentic from the moment I picked it up.
Enjoy the Holidays!
