Eames mix and match
I thought someone with more knowledge would have made a precise identification by now; but, since none has been forthcoming, I will refer you back to a recent previous post titled ?EC-127?.
The seating components seem to be the plastic seat parts for the aforementioned EC-127 which was a reworked DCM. The base is from the 1957 Eames Aluminum Group mounted on nifty wheels so that one could glide gleefully about the office.
The Eames design group often mixed and matched preexisting components to create new furniture. I imagine that the managers at Herman Miller requested designs for their contract furniture division which had to meet specific price points. The Eames team juggled what they had and met the price target.
Personally, I like the chair. It may not be worth much money but it has character and I am sure it functions well. Perhaps if it doesn?t clean up to your satisfaction you could ship the seat and back pieces to LRF and have them reupholstered in a nifty new fabric?
