| Ah: Google has digitized... Ah: Google has digitized older patents than the patent office. That explains the Z-chair patent which doesn't appear in the patent office database because it is too old. But google brings up nothing comes up for "Aasbjerg." | |||||

| The 4 digits code is the production date in format MMYY. It is by chance that the two examples I took were both made in October. Fritz Hansen used the same until 1978, then they just mentioned the year. | |||||

| ... to have an LCD or LED clock/programming/standby light feature that will constantly suck electricity (nevermind that the digits are so tiny that they're virtually unreadable). My old Krups had ONE tiny light that was only on when the machine was operating. Other than that, i could leave it plugged in all day without any power being consumed. So far i've only found one, but the design seems a bit tragically sleek-o for me: http://www1.bloomingdales.com/catalog/product/index.ognc?ID=111191&CategoryID=8173&PageID=8173*1*24*-1*-1*5 Plus, its a bit too tall ... | |||||

| Black doesn't show dirt and scuffs...Simple... Go in a thrift store and look at ratty leather furniture. Which looks less ratty? Black leather, or beige, or blue, or god forbid, red? Black is also dignified and most modernism was so jarring and unconventional that to be taken seriously they probably had to opt for black. Finally, black does not distract one from the formalism of modernist furniture the way bold colors often do. Imagine an Eames easy chair in--god forgive me please--pink leather. You would never even SEE the great bent rosewood, or the organi ... | |||||

| glad we can be dignified about it its such a shame to see people frozen in time - clinging to a ridiculously small number of designers. Yes, many of the mid century designs are great. But... this forum is not "mid century design addict". Lets integrate some of the contemporary designers into the mix. Ikea is a fantastic place to get affordable furniture that doesnt look white trash, or bland 'american' style. Not to mention that the whole Ikea experience is very well designed - both from a purchasing point of view, and a sales point of view. I dont sugg ... | |||||

| Sorry to digress, but for what it is worth, I am quite sure that the base of that table is stainless-steel (even though it clearly was stained, and magnetic). It is probably a 430 ferritic or 410 martensitic stainless, both of which are magnetic. These alloys will also eventually corrode, as it is not nearly as corrosion resistant as 300-series alloys like 304 and 316. The 400 series alloys are really common for use in the kitchen (cutlery, appliances, etc.), and are quite a bit cheaper than 300 series, typically. | |||||

| But I digress. | 2 Relevance | 16 years ago | fastfwd | General discussion | |
| But I digress. Getting back to the question... I don't think I see the problem. If you're really serious about hi-fi, you don't care whether your rig fits the decor. Your amps are out in the open, you've got inch-thick speaker cables snaking across the floor, there are tube traps in the corners of your room and acoustic panels on the walls... Your furnishings are chosen for compatibility with the system, not the other way around. If you're just a normal audiophile, then unless you have super-esoteric gear, the stuff on your equipment rack will just be a bun ... | |||||

| Jesgord, your photos continually put my 600 sq. ft. digs & housekeeping habits to shame I can only hope that your photos were taken on a previous occasion when the bathroom happened to be freshly scrubbed, and these pics weren't idly snapped twenty minutes ago. Your bathroom is bigger than my kitchen, your kitchen is bigger than my living room, and your toilet is cleaner than my teeth. | |||||
