| Desks are difficult | 2 Relevance | 19 years ago | barrympls | General discussion | |
| Desks are difficult Strangely, of all the types of furniture you can buy new from the mid-century era, there's fewer desks to choose from. I have a desktop computer - not a notebook - and i wanted a solid well design desk. I couldn't find anything from Knoll or Herman Miller that was right. I bought a Blut Dot Paperclip desk, which is no longer available. It's very solid, to be sure and looks nice. As far as a 'built in' type wall unit for your TV, I had thought of buying a knockoff ESU, but I found a really nice TV cart from Kartell, on eBay for a fractio ... | |||||

| It's pretty difficult for me ... It's pretty difficult for me to write down any idea in this forum.. because I don't have many experience with sharing my opinion on design and even if it's quite anonymous I feel a great response for every word I put online. However, I really feel a need to say thanks 🙂 it's great to discuss different views on design.. even reading about it is very interesting. I don't know whether sobebody of you noticed a design conference taking place in my capital.. Bratislava. although I'm just a design student.. it was great experience ... | |||||

| This is a difficult question Martin... My first reaction would not be unlike yours, but we consider P.K's furniture as part of the Danish furniture design heritage. There is also a traditionalist point of view that considers heritage the same way as historians consider the past. Historians look at the past, research it and re-write history. History is a selective part of the past and we all hope that it is selected on the basis of it's relevancy for the present and the future. Heritage is the same as the past. it is what it is and nothing can be changed to i ... | |||||

| ... black burn goes all the way through. The resuface option is also difficult if yours is rosewood as this (the original brazilian type) was banned in 1978 and thus not availablee anymore. My advice to you is to claim the cost of another table from your insurers as this may prove the only viable option. | |||||

| Difficult to see in the pic, but the centre one isn't a leg..it's just a brace. So, presumably the hairpin legs would work with a centre brace ? | |||||

| So many choices with dining... So many choices with dining chairs. For those who like to linger, comfort is usually going to be a factor. While I love the look (and don't hate the feel) of the Bertoia side, the Magistretti Maui, the Eames DCW, etc., I have become accustomed, since like Olive, we tend to set at the table and look out windows, to using a more substantial chair with arms. This is a difficult order to find in the modern world. The Eames aluminum group is a good option, much better I feel than the Eames armshell with regard to comfort, and at lea ... | |||||

| mine have been difficult to repair I picked up two wassilys from a posh advertising agency when it shut down years ago. While functionable, the straps were coming unbound in places. I've taken the chairs to two leather shops and they tell me the straps cannot be repaired. I haven't given up, but have thus far been surprised it is SO difficult a task... I hope to hear a good report from someone else soon! | |||||

| Do not dispair... They were not very expensive....at the time. It's difficult to see on a picture but if the flower pattern is part of the chairs that were bought originaly, yoiu can be sure it is not the "real" Hardoy. | |||||

| I think it might be difficult... to tote furniture on a plane... All the neat small modern stuff like Alessi is made in Europe and must be cheaper in Sweden... Maybe some interesting textiles? Like Maharam "20th century Collection"... Other than that I'm at a loss... Olive may have the ticket with food (if customs will allow)... A huge bag of oregano will raise an eyebrow or two... How 'bout a large vessel of New Mexico Hatch Chiles to warm up those cold Swedish winters? Chile Rellenos anyone? | |||||

| Difficult times ahead koen, Appropos of this, No 8 in the list (I love these numbers) was "Copying", ie the use of digital cameras and camera phones to piarate new ideas and No 13 "South Korea", which has apparently stolen a march on China in terms of its attitude to design. And here's one for Olive - No 11 "Light transmitting concrete" or LitTraCon??? | |||||

| A difficult one... | 2 Relevance | 23 years ago | koen | General discussion | |
| A difficult one... I wih I knew...but, considering that it is a large piece of plastic, I am almost sure that you will find it in France. Especially around that period, France's designers were very productive in large pieces. Look for names like Marc Berthier, Dominique Prevot and Jean-Luc Favriau, Pierre Berger, Olivier Mourgue, Marc Held and Roger Landault who did for Steiner the Unibloc 4, which to me is the most Marc Newson...avant la lettre. Good luck in your search. If I find a moment I will go through afew books to | |||||
| Can someone recognize these dining chairs? | 2 Relevance | 7 years ago | Shane McGoan | Identification | |
| Hi there folks, I'm looking for a 3D model of these design chairs, but the search is difficult, not knowing how they'rea actually named or who the designer(s) behind their creation is/are. Can you recognize'em? Or at least suggest some other 'named' chairs you know, that look very similar to these? That would be great! Thanks in advance!BestShane Attachment: dining-Chairs.jpg | |||||
