| also, do not dismiss what you have right away until you have done enough research before you let the chair go. this is an opportunity to learn, look at your chair closely for visible obvious signs like tool marks (machine tool marks look differnent than hand tool marks. look at the joints/connections (tenons versus dowels). look at the overall lines, shape and quality of how the chair was put together and most importanly ask yourself first "is this chair useful to me?". if the answer is yes, that is all you need regardless of the chairs pedigree/provenan ... | |||||

| ... that shop was called "Loods 11 or 13". This shop no longer exists. The chairs have some resemblance to the "Tulip Chair" by E. Saarinen. However, the round, circular backrest differs and the round base with a groove does not match either. The seller emphasized at the time that the chairs were designed by a Dutch designer. Perhaps someone can tell me who designed this chair. | |||||

| I don't think it's as difficu... I don't think it's as difficult as it seems. did you look at the underside of the bottom edge of the chair back? There is probably a screw or two there that can be removed and then the back will pop out. I had a Jens Risom chair with this same kind of inset upholstered back and that's how it was made. It was very easy to do. The only problem I had was that my new fabric added just enough bulk that it was hard to get the panel back in place, but I did do it in the end. | |||||

| The distance between the uprights is determined by the width of the pieces that you wish to hang from the uprights. In other words, if your shelves want uprights at 39 9/16 on center, it would be best to install the uprights at that distance. You might discover that using an actual shelf as a purpose built measuring stick is more effective than using a tape measure. If you have a stud wall and the studs do not line up with your wall uprights, you may need to visit the hardware store and peruse the wide selection of anchoring products and their various weig ... | |||||

| Difficult to say with these old pictures but I think that some of pieces have the same base with the small "space" between the case and the legs (sorry I have no idea how it is supposed to be called) but true that they do not seem to have the same carved legs (that remind me of Kai Kristiansen / Aksel Kjersgaard). | Wide Danish (style) dining chair ID | 2 Relevance | 14 years ago | cdsilva | General discussion | |
| I was doing a little picking through a storage unit this weekend, and acquired a nice set of 4 Poul Volther for Frem Rojle teak/cord dining chairs, as well as a project Yugo-made Wegner style folding beech/cord ottoman that needs some work. The guy also had a set of six large Danish-looking dining chairs that I did not recognize (no id markings underneath). While it is difficult to see from the photos, the chairs are about as wide as a lounge chair. They seemed to me to be a generic design (decent construction in some areas) with some design motifs of Finn J ... | |||||

| apartment-sized dining table? | 2 Relevance | 20 years ago | ricker | General discussion | |
| Hi, I'm hoping that someone can help me with a dining table sugestion. Living in a city of apartments (Chicago), I can't believe how difficult it has been to find a dining table that fits with apartment living. What I want is something that would be dining table height (approx 29") is no more than 36" wide and is about 36" long normally, with the ability to extend to maybe 42-45" (but no more than 50")long. But most of what I find, starts at 42-45" long, and goes into the 70's or more. Would love to find something with a more asian style, and our furnis ... | |||||

| And no, it is not difficult to ship the chair. You just need to use the correct speciality shipper. Feel free to give me a call on (917)/528/5979 if you have more questions. I am happy to help. I will have a container going from US to Denmark later this fall and it would be easy to include another item. | |||||
| difficult to check for | 2 Relevance | 10 years ago | SuspectBusker | General discussion | |
| difficult to check for stickers when you buy on the net 😉 I decided to buy it anyways because I like the unusual look, a nice contrast with what I already have and it wasn't too expensive. The seller is a French "brocanteur" who lives in Sweden. He has a shop there and comes to France with stuff he buys in Sweden. So that is why he claims that the cabinet is made in Sweden but designed by Iversen. I'll make sure to look for various stamps or stickers on the item when I get it delivered. I've searched over and over on the net for anything resembling the cabinet but only found a small matching cabinet, on the website of the seller in Sweden... It was probably acquired at the same time... | |||||

| It is a bit difficult to be sure from the pictures, but it looks like the wood has some indication of more extensive water damage to the whole surface, in addition to the rings and dark spots. The first, and especially the second picture, look like there may be some grain raising up, possibly even veneer starting to de-laminate (black spot at the bottom). If true, the only way to address this is a strip and sand, possibly treatment with Oxalic Acid, and refinish. If this is the case, probably best to go with a professional, if you have limited refinishing ... | |||||

| It is difficult to see the exact details for the table which i suspect was made by K P møbler. You should be able ti find a sticker on the underside along with a large paperlabel giving care instructions for the table. The chairs are not wegner but a generic design from Haslev mæbelfabrik or could even be Kvist møbler. Would require more detailed images to confirm that. Merry christmas from Denmark | |||||
