| there is a difference There is a distinct difference between the funcionalism that pushed modern furniture and the abstraction that pushed modern art. Furniture has a purpose and most of the modernists accepted that it's form was secondary to that purpose. (or at least had to synergize with that purpose) Sure, Corb and a Mies were interested in pure geometric forms but even they had to cede to the human form in places. | |||||

| I can see the difference (I... I can see the difference (I did think that too) but there are many different FH ink marks. I have seen quite a few variations. Is it not possible the ink smudged/ran when it was stamped? Just looks very similar to me. Have you got an image of the piece the stamp belongs to or did you just see the stamp somewhere and was curious? | |||||

| I have a rectangular Hans Olsen dining set by Frem Rojle I have checked a lot of posts, and there seem to be a lot of knowledgeable people with information on Hans Olsen and Frem Rojle, but i have yet to see anything mentioned about the set i own. Does anyone have any information about this set? 6 chairs and a rectangular table with a hidden butterfly leaf. All stamped "Frem Rojle". Chairs tuck under the table exactly like the round version of the Hans Olsen set. In fact, the chairs have four legs and are identical to the four legged Hans Olsen chairs (I kn ... | |||||

| "What's the difference"? Seriously? | 2 Relevance | 17 years ago | fastfwd | General discussion | |
| "What's the difference"? Seriously? Maybe part of the difference is that one's been in production for 15 years and has made hundreds of millions of dollars for its manufacturer, while the other has spent the same amount of time as nothing more than an artist's rendering on a web page. | |||||

| "Not having room to display it is the problem" Cooljjay: This seems simplistic, but... If you don't have enough room for the pieces you desire, make room by getting rid of the pieces you don't desire. If you still don't have enough room for everything you desire, great! That means you won't be buying as many things, so you can afford to spend more than you thought on each one. If you STILL don't have enough room, try to desire floor-to-ceiling storage of some kind. You can fit an enormous amount of stuff on an eight-foot-high set of shelves, even if it's o ... | |||||

| color makes the difference I am a vitra representative and I had the opportunity to sit in a black organic chair before the re-edition, I considered it comfortable but did not love the design. Months later someone bought a red chair from me, when it arrived I fell immediately in love with the color, I believe the color brought out the best in the chair. | |||||

| I love the CSS, but it would be too difficult for Herman Miller to bring all the pieces back into production, and honestly, only a few of us understand how to put it together and keep it from falling over! I'm confident that Herman Miller will be able to reproduce something as simple as the Basic Storage pieces. I have not been impressed with the chests of drawers of bookshelves available around. When the other thread - the one about the Nelson bench - was being discussed, it occured to me that since HM is making the benches - in the same quality as the ori ... | |||||

| There is a difference Robert, I noticed in some replies that it was recommended that your try matching the paint. This is called a repair (and rather poor at that). Restoration is when an object is returned to its original state in a method that can be removed should a superior method become available in the future. Repair is inexpensive and reflects the cost and restoration is more costly with excellent results. The choice is yours. | |||||
