| Ikea blew my mind | 1 Relevance | 17 years ago | Pegboard Modern | General discussion | |
| ... years ago at Ikea. I foolishly thought they might still sell the simple, clean white ceramic planters that I'm thrilled to say survived two frigid winters without breaking. Now, I always say that a design geek going to Ikea is like visiting the grocery store hungry. It's dangerous. You are likely to buy things you don't need and did not want before you ever walked in the door. But once you are there, you become seduced by the fact that they are pretty cool, and damn! That's cheap! Before you know it, you are at the check-out line spending a couple hundred ... | |||||

| le Corbusier LC2, LC3, Gran Confort | 1 Relevance | 17 years ago | NULL NULL | General discussion | |
| I have tried to google the differences between these series but can't find any reliable answer. I think I understand the difference between LC2 and LC3, but is Gran Confort still a different series? The Gran Confort seems to have looser cushions and was reffered to as made for ladies. Can someone tell me or help me with a link straighten up this? Thanks! | |||||
| Bertoia Bar Chairs- Authentic or Knock-Off? | 1 Relevance | 17 years ago | ID Guy | General discussion | |
| I am trying to tell weather these Bertoia bar chairs are vintage Knoll or knockoffs. If anyone has any insight into how to tell the difference that would be great. I am going to check them out tomorrow AM, we've agreed on a price of $225. She bought them at an estate sale with lots of vintage mid-century items, so she is thinking they are authentic? I can't find images that would help distiguish...any help is appreciated. Thanks, Mike | |||||

| Ben Mildwoff Table? | 1 Relevance | 18 years ago | Dummkopf | General discussion | |
| Hello, I inherited a table which could be a Ben Mildwoff table built in the 40's by Modern Age Furniture Corp. I've attached a scan of what the table looks like. The scan was taken from the book, "Furnishing With Color" by Walter Rendell Storey, dated 1945. The only difference between the table in the scan and my table is that mine rests on two pedestals and is 71" long by 40" wide. The table is currently in storage in Costa Mesa, California. Can anyone give me anymore information, especially what it could be worth. Thank You! | |||||

| Zenith sideshells | 1 Relevance | 17 years ago | Pegboard Modern | General discussion | |
| ... makes sense as well. The armshells were the first Eames fiberglass design introduced, with the sideshell following shortly thereafter. Like I mentioned, they are in 2 of the original 5 colors: parchment and lemon yellow. They have the same fiber content as the transitional armshells (high content but more uniform, not as swirly as the earliest hand-laid rope edge chairs) and are translucent as well. The shockmounts are the same color and texture as the large zenith shockmounts the difference being the smaller size and absence of the metal washer. The parchm ... | |||||

| Vitra dowel bases on Herman Miller? Repro rocker bases on Vitra? | 1 Relevance | 18 years ago | Jerry | General discussion | |
| ... bases and gave me repro bases instead. He then never reply my mails on my complaints. So, I am desperate to make my dining set of 4 HM side chair consistent looking. Now, my plan is, buy a new Vitra Arm shell chair with dowel base. Then replace the dowel base for my HM side shell while buying a new repro rocker base for this Vitra Arm shell. Would the bases work in this configuration? Is there any difference between the dowel bases for side chair and arm chair produced by Vitra? would the mounting fits HM? Thanks guys. | |||||
