| Folke Ohlsson tables | 1 Relevance | 10 years ago | midcenturygrl | General discussion | |
| I have a set of Folke Ohlsson Frisco tables by Tingstroms (coffee & 2 end tables). They were purchased in Sweden in 1960. I wondered if anyone could tell me why there seems to be such a difference in value between the Tingstroms & DUX. They look like the same tables, but I'm seeing much higher values for the Tingstroms. I'm also wondering if they would sell for more as a set, or if it makes any difference? Thanks for any advice! | |||||
| Authentic Eames LCW? | 1 Relevance | 10 years ago | ZooMob | Identification | |
| Looking a picking up this LCW, but it is a decent drive away, and I have some concerns with authenticity. It looks old, and the seller is not trying to pass it off as Eames or Herman Miller, did not know the difference between lounge or dining, etc. My concern is with the bolt pattern. It looks to be 4-2-4, which I thought was recent. But, it has been drilled, which tends to lead me to think it is old, as do the square nuts on the bottom. It is very reasonably priced, but is 1.5 hours from my house. Thoughts? | |||||

| Hi Again, Bought this the other day as it kind of had something of the Vasarely about it and I really just liked it ... I suspect that it's just an amateur piece but if anyone knows different i'd love to know. Also, and this might help settle a minor difference of opinion between my wife and I, is it hideous or rather fantastic? I tend to think that it really ties the room together man, but could be swayed towards my wife's opinion should the general consensus be against it 🙂 It's made of wool, is about 4ft x 4ft, and isn't signed as far as I can tell. | Herman Miller / Eames Side Chair colors – Robin's Egg vs. Light Blue | 1 Relevance | 11 years ago | DinoNoras | General discussion | |
| Hi fellow addicts, as I've been thinking about this quite some time now, I thought I'd simply ask. Does anyone happen to know the difference between the Eames colors "Light Blue" (LB) and "Robin's Egg Blue"? Is there any difference at all? Maybe someone has got one of each in his or her collection and wants to share some pictures… Cheers, Danny | |||||
| Ole Wanscher | 1 Relevance | 11 years ago | ossrk79 | Identification | |
| I can't find a positive ID on this set. The arms are identical in shape to Ole Wanscher for France and sons, but the difference are the vertical back supports and location of the hardware. This leads me to believe it was pre France and Sons. Help! | |||||
| Help needed to identify early Milo Baughman for Thayer Coggin Chairs? | 1 Relevance | 11 years ago | lucumo21 | Identification | |
| I recently acquired these nice solid walnut chairs. Looking at them the frame seems to be identical to low height version of the Milo Baughman Archie chair, with the main difference being the back rest. The rest of the frame seems exactly the same. The webbing is a single sheet of black elastic/rubber type material that is stapled down. They do not have any maker's mark but do have a Genuine American Walnut label so I assume they are made in USA. I would really appreciate if anyone can confirm if they are Thayer Coggin? Also as I am having new cushions made ... | |||||
| Dealing with faded teak veneer... | 1 Relevance | 11 years ago | hundredwaters | General discussion | |
| Dear Design Addicts... I have a Borge Mogensen teak chest that I love, but that appears to have faded on the front surface. You can see the difference in color on the side of the drawer versus the front in the attached pics. I have a similar second chest that is unfaded that I wanted to match it to, but had concerns about how much can be done... I know sun damage can be difficult to deal with. I am wondering if it is worthwhile to (strip?) and sand this a bit to expose wood that is more brown than yellow, knowing that there are risks regarding veneer... ... | |||||

| ... do the tables belong. I have found a couple of additional pieces online that share the same design elements (square legs, mid-underside supports, exposed squared leg tops, inset table top, etc.), of which only one indicated a possible group, which was Artisan. I have been doing some (extensive) research of the Artisan Group from the same period at Bassett, and it's just not a match. The Artisan Group has far more of a "spindly" look about the pieces, the biggest difference being that instead of square legs, all the legs are turned/round versus the square le ... | |||||

| Austin Cox chess set question | 1 Relevance | 13 years ago | Killian | General discussion | |
| I cant remember where I read it but I have a vague memory of there being new restrike versions of the 1962 Austin Cox aluminium chess set. I seem to remember that the blue plexiglass is not included on the newer version but I am almost certain there was some other difference as the person making them was purposely trying to set the new ones apart from the old ones. Can anyone help shed any light here info wise ? Many thanks. Killian. | |||||

| ... name that lost its original spelling once it was Americanized, I'm aware that sometimes the spellings get distorted across sources.....though, I'm assuming if you are stamping your furniture, you know how your name is spelled.:) I can't imagine someone faked a stamp like this. Everyday people wouldn't recognize the name. Any thoughts on the authenticity of the stamp or why there would be a difference in spelling? I'm including a pic of the chair (though it is not terribly unusual) just so you can see the chair the stamp was on. Thanks for your thoughts, San ... | |||||
| Real or replica CTW Eames coffee table | 1 Relevance | 11 years ago | Reamie | Identification | |
| I just picked this up on a punt, and I'm wondering if anyone has any hints to tell the difference between real or replica? Mine has no markings or stickers on it, so I have my doubts. I'm not sure how old it is, the person I bought it off had it about 5 years and he got it second hand. It's a little beaten up, with a small chip to the veneer. Can anyone help? | |||||
