| Wegner furniture and marks | 1 Relevance | 16 years ago | Miranda | General discussion | |
| Looking at sites such as Lauritz I have seen Wegner items marked as well as unmarked: 1. burn marked (but burn marks can look a bit different) 2. metal plate 3. silver colored tag/sticker 4. no mark at all My questions are: A) Am correct in assuming that authentic Wegner pieces are always marked and marked as stated in 1 and 2 above? This of course does not mean that all pieces thus marked have to be authentic. B) Do the burnmarks differ depending on time period? I ask because I have seen different types of burn marks, even for the same producer. | |||||
| Original Bertoia side chairs | 1 Relevance | 18 years ago | jef180 (FIN) | General discussion | |
| I recently bought 12 really worn Bertoia side chairs in Helsinki. The seller claimed that the chairs had been specially ordered to the their family´s restaurant Toolonranta which was built in Helsinki in 1950-1951. The seller even claimed that he came to the restaurant himself to install them in the setting. The chairs differ somewhat from the ones sold today but there is not doubt that they are Bertoia´s. Could anyone shed any light on the subject? did Bertoia visit Finland early in his furniture career. | |||||
| Where can i buy a Eames Lounge chair for a reasonable price? | 1 Relevance | 19 years ago | Ron Sim | General discussion | |
| I've been looking on the internet for a reasonable priced Eames Lounge chair incl. a Ottoman. The prices differ a lot, even the replica's/ knock offs. I can not afford to buy a genuine Vitra/Miller version and are therefore looking to buy a replica. Even the replica's are listed for up to $2000, this is way too much for me. If you have a website for me where to buy a lounge chair pretty cheap if would really appreciate it. Thanks for your help. | |||||

| Wow! Thanks for the great analysis Spanky! I noticed the feet too but i thought that might be caused by a camera angle. I did not notice the squared and the rounded edge on the swivel(?) part though. I find it very hard to get more info on what to look for in a authentic Mouille lamp. So far this is the only help i could find: http://youhavebeenheresometime.blogspot.nl/2013/05/a-conversation-on-ser... Does anybody have some more info on variations in production (along the years)? I know the shades always differ a little bit but what about the feet? So more ... | |||||
| Can anyone identify these 'poang' style armchairs please? | 1 Relevance | 13 years ago | poang | General discussion | |
| ... obviously the original inspiration for the IKEA 'poang' style. But they are high quality products with dark [probaly] hardwood frames supporting a slung canvas base for full-length soft leather cushions My chairs also differ in that there is no cross piece joining the two feet at the back and that the bentwood is a single piece from foot to the top of the back ie it does not end at the back of the arm like the poang also there is no separate wooden frame supporting the seat; it's slung canvas like a deck chair. The leather cushion is a single piece covering ... | |||||
| Eames DKR can anyone help me identify? | 1 Relevance | 13 years ago | jvdgruiter | General discussion | |
| Hi there, Today I've managed to get this chair without paying too much for it and that also explaines my worry perhaps. The feet look different from the eiffel bases I find on the internet. Trough the forum I was able to find similar topics on this but my subject seems to differ slightly from the ones posted. Perhaps because of the good condition, it's a Vitra production, I'm just not sure. There are no stamps or stickers to be found on the chair. My hopes are for someone who can enlighten me on this. Thanks in advance for any comments/advice. J. P.S. If ne ... | |||||

| ... desks are the same model and the same price, but differ in the following ways: Desk 1: wood in very good condition (hardly any stains or scratches, no damage to the veneer), but not signed, no original keys and one of the locks is not original. The wood type is rare for this model. Desk 2: the more common model. Signed, original keys and locks, but some damage to the veneer that would need to be repaired; this restauration would also involve having the whole desk revarnished. This would raise the original price for me by around 45 %. Which one of the desks ... | |||||
| Johannes Andersen Smile Coffee Table Replica Sighting | 1 Relevance | 14 years ago | cdsilva | General discussion | |
| In the recent theme of replica threads, I came across my first Johannes Andersen Smile Coffee Table knockoff recently on eBay. I don't believe I had ever seen one before, at least not recognized by me, and it took me a while to notice two identifiable features which differ from the original (anyone want to play Where's Waldo and see if they can find them?). Has anyone come across a Smile knockoff in your various endeavors? If so, who is making them? I always thought it was too difficult a piece to fabricate economically for the limited market that is out the ... | |||||
| Portland cement stucco comes | 1 Relevance | 11 years ago | uasrem2 | General discussion | |
| Portland cement stucco comes in different standard colors from the manufacturer. They can also provide custom colors. I strongly recommend select half a dozen preferred colors for initial selection. Then proceed with 3 selected colors on 24"sq. mock up samples. Renderings and online colors will differ to field conditions. Take into account the stucco texture. They come in different patterns. Also, the wall area may have contraction joints. These joint can be incorporated into the final appearance of the walls. Also those walls may require coping of sort, met ... | |||||
| What make you think the "Made | 1 Relevance | 11 years ago | DrPoulet | General discussion | |
| What make you think the "Made in Denmark" stamp could be a fake? Denmark has a pretty big furniture industry and not all danish furniture are valuable. I noticed that the "Made in Denmark" stamps slightly differ from one maker to another. Maybe you should try to find a similar stamp on the Internet. That might lead you to a maker and/or designer. I actually managed to ID a mirror doing that... | |||||

| Bertoia Side Chairs - Production Info | 1 Relevance | 14 years ago | bobbdavs (UK) | General discussion | |
| Hi All, I was wondering if anyone could tell me whether the production on the Knoll Bertoia chairs differed over the years and between production sites? I bought a Bertoia side chair from a seller on ebay around 5 months ago, which was manuafctured in Europe (Belguim) by Knoll. After trying to find another white bertoia side chair to go with it for a decent price in the UK, I stumbled across another on ebay around a month ago which appeared to be an older USA production. I have since recieved the chair and put the two together and they appear to differ slig ... | |||||
| Eames Zenith Label | 1 Relevance | 14 years ago | dontcallmedave | General discussion | |
| (2) Eames Zenith Rope Edge Armchairs I recently and luckily picked up for $20USD a piece! Been stored away since 1974. Reason I know this is that the bases were wrapped in newspaper from that year. They are in great shape with the original shine that is just wonderful. The checkerboard label is in great condition on both as well. They differ from my RAR Zenith in that they have the extra bar across the bottom. Anybody know what this extra blank bar on the bottom of the label is for, or why it is there on this model? | |||||

For example, someone on this forum once pointed out a site (I've since forgotten the site name) where you could buy repros of the Eames/Saarinen chair(s) entered into the 1940 Organic Design in Home Furnishings MoMA competition. And that's brilliant! It's even interesting further because that chair was suggested to be a failure ultimately because it could never be mass produced without the problems it encountered in it's making. So, in this instance, it's available again (though how it's built may differ from the original)and it's impli ...

Player choices in a competitive environment often differ significantly from those in a non competitive environment. If architects and building engineers design buildings or stadiums for orderly, noncompetitive evacuations, and if evacuations were orderly and noncompetitive, then there maybe a configuration of halls, stairs and door widths that would be highly rational and efficient for th ...
