| Pretty? Yes. Robust? Hmmm. I'd love to be able to handle it before I bought it, if it were for sale. Is it just my perception, or do Braun products from that period suffer from a certain flimsiness? I've long coveted the dieter Rams butane lighters, but can't seem to find one that's not broken. | |||||

| whether you consider. . something to be bad design, depends on on your definition of what constitutes good design. As far as i know, there is not one universally fixed definition. A magazine did the exercise awhile ago, and asked 10 prominent desingers what their definition of good design was. A lot of recurring elements appeared, but the order of priority they were put in differed depending on the designer. Some designers also included elements in their definition of good design that others left out. (eg longlasting lines, how important is it to be renewing ... | |||||

Are some his products so different from John Van Koert's salt and pepper (1948) or Soren Georg Jensen's condiment set (1951) or Eva Zeisel's Tomorrow's classic (1949). Just for those who are looking for references on this, may I add: Lino Sabattini's M464 (1947), Stig Lindberg's Veckla series and the other swedish designer Vicke Lindstrand's LH 1181 for Kosta Glasbruk (1953) You probably added ...

I really like the Dutch quote about the normal, it makes me think of dieter Rams for some reason. I hope there is a consumer revolt against the spectacular and flashy, perhaps this will become a style and all the magazines will be full of Shaker inspired drinks trolleys! Though I have to say its hard to design this way in this time, perhaps the amateur (like myself) with limited materials, tools and processes who can only produ ...

If you have done these and it still does not turn on, check to see if it has a fuse, the unit will not turn on if that is busted and has to be replaced to match the original if it is still there. If it still will not turn on, it could be anything, old tubes, broken solder connection or other types of short circuits that had happened in the past that may need an experienced radio repair electrician that repairs vintage equipment. | Thank you leif ericson for the detail and insightful information regarding origin of this table. Although I have a limited knowledge regarding MC Danish, I concur with you as this being diethelm Scanstyle. As for cdsilva finding in CL the same table, with my search (Google) I could not locate it. It would be a great help for present and future reference to to provide the link to the posting or at least the area it was posted. My thanks in advance for your reply. BTW, is Dania products made in Taiwan?
