Yes, there are empty spaces in materials, technical subjects, etc etc (design n economy, design n cultural I'd add) OK Come on!!, let's start the respective threads to study those subjects!!! Don't drive the average level downsizing 🙂 Peronists Koenists DAerists We had some months with not many threads that interested too much people. There was even one thread that commented that the forum was getting boring, and most people agreed. At the same time we had one workshop destroyed, one birth, one divorece, and more. | 4 legged ants I'd bet they have four legs as they are later production. Fritz Hansen only began to offer the ant chair with 4 legs after Jacobsen died in 1971 (he refused to even consider anything other than his original 3 legged design). Regardless, if you like them and the meet your needs, the price sounds like a deal. I mean, can you even get a new chair of decent quality for under $150? Hell, just use the 3 around a small round table, keep the odd one tucked away unless you need it for company. p.s. I am totally jealous of you shopping the market for goo ...

| one note I found one note that Vitra consolidated licensing in 1984. this seems to make a bit of sense - if other companies were seeing a lull in sales, Charles and Ray had recently died, and a new design scene was coming to the forefront - why would Vitra not push HM to consolidate the licensing? Was anyone clever enough to copy the Vitra timeline from their website? (I sure wasnt) | |||||

| i met the housekeeper she ... i met the housekeeper she is still there, They open to foundation members on the June 20 Charles and Rays wedding anniversary but if you are a foundation member you can make appointment to see the inside. I just felt the place needed a going over but they tell you it was left just like it was in 1988 when Ray died, Still a very unique place but the view is to die for over looking the Pacific . | |||||

| Goldman did not design the... Goldman did not design the Cherner chair-Cherner did. Goldman tried to rip Cherner off and attributed the chair to the mythical "Bernardo". See below from Modernism Magazine: it was created in 1958 by the American designer, Norman Cherner. Commissioned by Paul Goldman, the previous year, Goldman's company, Plycraft, had been engaged to make George Nelson's loop-backed Pretzel Chair for Herman Miller. Sadly, this charming- but-costly chair was discontinued and Goldman was left holding the expensive tooling. On Nelson's recommen ... | |||||

| I've always had a soft spot for that one. My first trip to mexico was in the early 80's. And a couple dozen trips since. They are quite common on the coastal areas. I've seem many different designs. Even tiny baby ones. Often made out of re-bar. A 'Fun in Acupulco' trip in the late 80's, (based on the Elvis movie), I found a factory just outside of the city. We met a business man from the Carolinas dealing in reclaimed wood floors while watching the cliff divers. He walked us through the steps of importing... That dream died with the trip. We had no money. O ... | |||||

| ... whose opinions I otherwise respect seem gaga about the show. To each his own..but I'm completely at a loss. The House/Holmes pun that Olive mentions, for example, to me seems trite. Certainly leagues below anything one would find in Conan Doyle's works. The episode I saw was a Christmas episode... The doctors spent so much time bickering about personal issues that it's no wonder the patient ended up dying. Ah, but before she died, she divulged that several months earlier she'd given birth to a still-born baby in an alley. With nothing more than faith, one o ... | |||||

| I have that exact same teacart it was part of a pretty vast collection of funky furniture Umanoff designed for Raymor. I'm still looking around for a biography on Arthur Umamoff and more information on Raymor, but cannot find anything on the web. Umanoff must have died and since Raymor no longer exists, you'd think it would be a good theme for a nice book. | |||||
| CADO versus PS | 1 Relevance | 18 years ago | Danish-homestore.com | General discussion | |
| CADO versus PS Hi there Cado units were much more superior in finish and design compared to the PS system although they both perform the same function. The system is called PS system from the founder of Randers Møbelfabrik Preben Sørensen. I had the pleasure of dealing with his daugher a few years ago after he died. The main reason I personally dont like the PS is the use of plastic veneers on the front edges but thatwas more to do with the preassure from vendors to make it cheaper. | |||||

No worries guys 🙂 T1000 the one that got away! they seem to be one of the most collectable (and expensive) Rams designs today The lighter above is from the Gugelot design studio: 1972, dont think Gugelot was involved as he died in 1965 ( personally i think it looks a bit like a Dunhill Rollagas) pete

| Yes, as an architect Saarinen... Yes, as an architect Saarinen was unpredictable, and unfortunately he died far too young. Critics - one of them the tremendously influential Vincent Scully - often cited him as unprincipled, eclectic, structurally pretentious, with no definitive style. His work was held up as evidence, if I remember correctly, of the decline of modernism. I think you started a thread recently on Frank Gehry, whitespike, someone who I think probably owes to Saarinen a fair debt at least of inspiration for some of his own architectural accompli ... | |||||

| the St. Louis arch is ... the St. Louis arch is really something also. It took almost 15 years from the competition till it was finished. Saarinen the architect was dead before it was ever finished. He truly was great from his furniture to his architecture, He truly benefited from his friend ship with the Eames and Florance Knoll who was like a member of the family. He died to young! | |||||
