| Exactly Whitespike, that's... Exactly Whitespike, that's what I proposed on the 3rd of May aswell. I also think it would complement the beautiful shape of the table. Also didn't find the book yet. I'll keep looking though. If I'll find it, I will leave you a link. | |||||

He meticulously cleaned any reflective surfaces and dusted everything. All of my accessories or daily items were removed and only what he liked was added back in and artfully arranged. Stuff from other parts of my house was moved in to get what he was looking for in terms of arrangements. The one thing that he didn't do was bring anything or his own to decorate with. All the stuff was mine but used differently. O ... | |||||

| ... Because of that I think it became very popular for photo shoots and magazines. Through that medium everybody got familiar with the shape of the "7", resulting in the fact that a lot of interior decorators and/or facility managers chose it to give a "modern" or "trendy" look to their office. Exactly why this same story didn't completely work out for the "Ant", I don't know. I always think that the "7" has the more sleek/commercial look, where as the "Ant" is the more elegant/design look. | |||||

| ... days unfortunately (if it where in belgium) you wouldn't get a 'license' to build such a house so different in style next to those others. what amazed me (and esp my girlfriend who is not a archi-designaddict) was how Schröder could reinstall the walls and so for the night make nice bedrooms and in the daytime make nice livingspace. koen; can you just visit fallingwater? as it is some kind of a museum (like the schröderhouse)? i didn't knew this, i thought it was still private property. Say; what about theMillard house (by wright), can it be that i saw thi ... | |||||

| columbus, Ind. I can't believe as a native hoosier I didn't suggest one of the best hidden gems of Modern Architecture. Columbus, Indiana. Columbus is a small town of approximately 40,000 people about an hour south of Indianapolis. In the 1950's a welthy area business man, J. Irwin Miller, set up a foundation that would pay your architects fees for public buildings that hired an architect from a list it compiled of the country's greatest architects. As a result, this little town has multiple buildings by both Saarinen's, Harry Weese, Richard Meier, I.M. ... | |||||

| Yikes, 420. Uh, just to be clear, after thoroughly reading 420's post, the Herman Miller chair I found was being thrown away. I didn't steal it, I had to get approval from security to take it off the lot because it was going to be disposed of. I did check my rear view and no one was running after me. I still consider it a find because it was the result of corporate dumpster diving. I am not a crook.(making peace signs.) | |||||

| I wouldn't worry about it.... I wouldn't worry about it. Just use and enjoy it. Like was said, all wood is different. I used to get hell when I sold guitars bc some grain didn't suit a customer's liking when the guitar came in. This reminds me. The other day a new LCW in walnut came in to my friend's modern furniture gallery. The backs of course are matched plywood. Well the knots in the wood perfectly make a frowny face! Two dark knots on either side and under there is a dark line that curves. We call it our "Tim Burton' LCW bc the face reminds me of Burton ... | |||||

| Good thing Az doesn't know where you live. . .! didn't you introduce yourself here with a discussion of that table -- you were trying to decide what kind of top to make, for a limited space? Or was that someone else? I fianlly came up with an appropriate analogy (?) for the knock-off issue: gay marriage! I mean (this is off-topic, but -- oh well) insisting that no-one purchase or own knocked-off classics is a LITTLE like the argument that if gays are allowed to marry, then straights' marriages "are disrespected" -- isn't it? | There was an article on these, and the businesswoman- designer who makes them, in one of the papers or magazines, in the last week. She discovered the material (vinyl "string"?) already in use in this woven form, and wanted to use it for a new version of her metal-fabric(?) decorative bowls. She found it wouldn't take that shape, so she came up with the place mats -- re-designing the weaves and color combinations to her satisfaction. First one, and then another high-concept restaurant (in New York, I think?) chose them, and soon she hadall the business th ... | |||||

| ... but when a form is reduced to its cleanest line how can it get any better? By embelishment? I can't see that happening. M1.5 didn't catch on and I can't forsee Louis 14th, Roccoco or Victorian making a come-back, can you? Ornate styles simply don't function well in our highly-techonogical world. I hope that I'm dead wrong as the though of endlessly recycled design concepts is quite unappealing. Maybe it's technology that wil make the difference, I think I could quite fancy sleeping on an anti-grav bed. | |||||
