| something similar in a book in a shop (don't know wich one because i didn't baught it) i came across someone who did something similar: he made some forms in the same 'layertechnique' in rapidprototyping material which he then used as a mould for modern ceramics (the rapid prototyping wax dissolved because of the heat in the baking proces). like koen said; benggston designs are nice but not that revolutionary; the guy with the ceramics was. (damn i should have bought the book!) | |||||

| That really does bite A friend and I went to Georgetown to window-shop at some high-end furniture stores. While I loved the look of the furniture at Ligne Roset, a lot of the items there didn't seem particularly well made. The wall unit shelves were scratched up. The drawers on storage units were made of simple butt joints. The leather on their chairs was paper thin. I would have thought that one would also get quality-built furniture at those high prices. I guess what you're paying more for is the "design." Very disappointing. | |||||

| Hey Koen? I have an extra copy of a great auction catalouge feat. only Poul Kjærholm. It's packed with large photos of just about everything he's ever designed incl. rare prototypes, never before seen one-off custom designs etc. It's a really nice layout too. Since you didn't see the excellent Kjærholm exhibition at Louisiana, then this might cheer you up 🙂 I could mail it to you if it sounds interesting. e-mail: andersen1982@hotmail.com | |||||

| Yes and well they should have... given the way women had been being mistreated. FWIW, I do not see the images of this website as pornographic, (I frankly didn't see much at all when I looked), rather I see them more as yet another venue of misegination toward women. What it really reminds me of is a Madison Avenue automobile ad in black and white. Women's images are being equated with artifacts--in this case designer furniture. It makes women seem like another product to be consumed, just the way car ads make women seem like accessories to a luxury car to be ... | |||||

I have an original watercolor of San Miguel de Allende to remind me that a part of me is still formed by the Beats even though San Miguel de Allende is now a retirement haunt for artists who didn't crash the top. Ironically, its by an artist, Richard Morton, spent his life in the military as an illustrator of military history. I have a positively hideous Milton Avery flow pen drawing that I like because it must have been one of Mr. Avery's first efforts after havin ...

| I did this job with the... I did this job with the orange citrus stripper, and it didn't hurt the fiberglass at all. My project was two, very early, zenith made, rope edged ones. They say to not just leave the stripper on forever, and too rinse it well afterwards. It may take a scrub brush or extra work to remove paint from the scratches (if there are any). | |||||

| Flogging a dead horse... Perhaps you didn't get the memo... Everyone stopped wasting their time with this and are enjoying the weekend! I hope you decide to do the same. Hopefully my 'computer parliance' is adequate enough to convince you to have a good time. Enjoy your weekend regardless... | |||||

| Podboy I just didn't think your sarcasm (if you can even call that level of rudeness sarcasm) was necessary or called for. When I made this post the first picture link wasn't working so I was going off memory. Now that I can visually compare both desks, side by side, they are not that similar except for basic overall shape and the fact that they are desks. Apparently your pretention for both design and spelling have put me in my place. I'll check my eyes and my computer when you check your ego. | |||||

| Many thanks for this answer... Many thanks for this answer and very interesting link! It actually makes lot of sense that the more fragile wood didn't last as well as other materials. Still the weird thing is that "the dowel" seems totally forgotten by the three books I own on the subject... | |||||

| Hei Tricia I didn't ask if they had any spare parts for the rosewood version of the Falcon Chair, but I'm visiting the factory again in desember and I could ask then if they have any spare parts. I think there were two types of rosewoodlegs in -78 so I need to know what colour rosewood your chairs are and if it is the tall or low type of chair. You could also try to email your question to them at post@vatnemobler.no The metal frame will fit your sling from -78, but on my visit the only had a few metal feet of the low version left. There are always some of t ... | |||||

| ... that up to the world and tried however misguidedly and at times disingenuously to live up to that wording, we were a legitimate beacon of hope to the world that people could self govern to a new, better society that could indirectly make the world a better place. It put our flawed, often confused human hearts in a right place, at least, whether we bungled it or not, or whether the monsters among us got control temporarily. Now its historically accurate that the original draft read "life, liberty and the pursuit of property." and it appears true that alot of ... | |||||

Very well packed, (table top is one sheet of very expensive glass) and no damage to table or chairs. sadly the chairs were matt finish and not the chrome finish I had ordered. These had to be reordered from Italy as not a normal item they supply in chrome at the time. So wrong chairs collected by courier and approx 3 mnth wait for replacements to arrive from italy(slightly longer than promised). But arriv ...
| Quality, quantity and choice | 1 Relevance | 20 years ago | Brent | General discussion | |
| Quality, quantity and choice I did say that the only end of life should be our own choosing. I didn't mention "quality" of life because it's just so obvious, so presupposed that one would not only try to live a long life but a good life, and one would just end life when it becomes unworth living. Medicine strives for immortality, but choice trumps medical ability. Hudsonhonu criticizes my premise that the goal of medicine is immortality, but he gives no reasons for his criticism. That's too bad because I'd sincerely like to hear them. Dcwilson, I love your e ... | |||||

| Heifetz wooden fish sculpture lamp on eBay There is currently a Heifetz "fish lamp" on eBay. It has an opening bid set at $250. (sans lampshade and I assume finial) and will end on Oct. 6. I didn't even get into Heifetz lamps until I recently got a beautifully hand-hammered brass biomorphic themed Heifetz. It's huge, but has become one of my favorite pieces. The original shade and finial, as with the rest of lamp, have remained in pristine shape. I love all the Heifetz lamps I have seen, yet admittedly that includes only about ten or so that I've been abl ... | |||||
