| Dear James, thanks for... Dear James, thanks for expressing your opinion so clearly. The multiplication of loose parts could be problematic indeed, but I imagined the saucer and base as one part. It is obviously difficult to find a radically new solution to answer a function that Koen and others have already brilliantly solved, this is why, I found interesting to add a new dimension by using the outside of the vase. Hey, Martin I hope that you are better! I simply use photoshop. It is not the most adapted software, but it is easier for me to use a software t ... | |||||

(about the first original drawing) I have the sense, that they prefer simpler things, They,ll like it but as they are not familiar with it, they don,t "take the risk"(unless they saw it on tv, or if a friend tells them thats the LAST TREND-). Even if you explains how it works, they will begin to understand, but will choose a more traditional one. BUT BUT BUT, whit the option of the rods, if you could take them out I think it will work better. With the rods you´ll make it "more friendly". Two in one or three in ...

Give me a link to something of his I can like, I want to see some new ideas on new ways we can interact with everyday objects that we tend to take for granted. That's genius.

I was simply excited about travelling so far from the antipodes. I didn't expect it would attract the sheer bitchiness that it did from the likes of Pauleanne and Vivienne. This will be my last post for quite a while. What a nasty bunch (not to mention snobby) some of you design addicts appear to be.

| ... dimensions are they too big or awkward? Prams have interested me, since I spent some time being a stay at home dad. My experience with prams in the late 90s was this: the new ones had a lot of bells and whistles that seemed nifty when buying, but then seemed irrelevant when actually in the day to day struggle of parenting an infant or toddler. Drink holders were one such example. Parents of infants and toddlers don't need drink holders, they need hip flasks. 🙂 Next, the new prams also didn't do the basics of pramming quite as well as older ones IMHO. Their ... | |||||

You didn't meet my point Koen that Ikea's Snille chair is virtually identical to Day's Polyprop - a chair which earned Day royalties for a long time. I suppose its a coincidence that Ikea have produced this shortly after a big resurgence in sales for the Hille original? The Ikea chair looks the way it does not because of any technical demands but because it is a cynical and shameless "me t ...

| who cares? The other point is, they are not pretending that it is a real Robin Day piece etc. They are making design available to all, which is respectable. You can find anything wrong and nitpicky to say about any designer or company. The bottom line is that if they didn't do their job then a lot of people would be left out. I am not saying they are perfect, but I am not going to pretend that making designs inspired by other desginers is a carnal sin. What do you care? If you can afford a real Aalto then zippity-do-dah. My last novel - Sandstone - about a working class family building their modest dream home in the 1950s, was shortlisted for last year's Commonwealth Writers Prize. But enough about me. How cool will it be getting an all expenses trip to Sweden and Denmark! And whatever you think about Ikea, they have certainly made design affordable to the masses. Can't wait to visit the Ikea Museum. I didn't think Ikea stuff lasted long enough to end up in a museum! I'm particularly interest ... | |||||

| Hi Robin, I agree with you... Hi Robin, I agree with you on the fix cushions, I didn't like that. The only issue I have with the base is that it looks dull and cheap and they don't have a chrome option. The overall look is clean with mid century lines but I don't know what the quality is really like but I'm wondering if the "made in Canada" is a good thing? It's got to be as good as anything from China right? Anyone here familiiar with their quality? | |||||

| SLEEP IN THE BATH I once had a girl, or should I say, she once had me... She showed me her room, isn't it good, norwegian wood? She asked me to stay and she told me to sit anywhere, So I looked around and I noticed there wasn't a chair. I sat on a rug, biding my time, drinking her wine We talked until two and then she said, "It's time for bed" She told me she worked in the morning and started to laugh. I told her I didn't and crawled off to sleep in the bath And when I awoke, I was alone, this bird had flown So I lit a fire, isn't it good, norwegian wood. | |||||

For example I like Talby (the mobile phone), and I think he is the one who has launched the fashion of very slim mobiles. But, again, it's because I Like them. Maybe somebody may like the thick ones. I think of him like a designer, an artist and an innovator at the same time. For example the 021C car for Ford Motor Company reflects his ingeniousness, I think, because it doe ...

| No screws Turns out, upon closer inspection, I don't think extra screws would help anyway. It seems that in my haste to quickly reassemble it the other night, I didn't have all the leather flattened out when I put the headrest into the shell. So I'm hoping that if I take it off and be careful not to let the leather bunch up when I put it back together, it should fit nicely. If not, I'm busting out the permanent marker. As for the curves, I think I'd turn once again to my trusty router. Of course, I'd still need to make a template of the curve out of some MDF ... | |||||
