| Alphaville clocks & LRF | 1 Relevance | 19 years ago | James-2 | General discussion | |
| Alphaville clocks & LRF Of all the Alphaville clock I saw(in person), the Turbine was the only one that didn't look good. Try calling allworldfurniture.com, I think they are cheaper. LRF: You can have your shipper pick-up your clocks from White on White. I ordered a pair of Saarinen Tulip style chairs and they quoted my somewhere around $300 to ship, I had Fedex pick the up and it ran around $80. | |||||

| LRF & Whitespike I'm in contact with Leslie Pina at Shiffer...I'm trying to interest her (him?) in a George Nelson Associates book that features all the junk he (they) did companies OTHER than Herman Miller, including: All known clocks from Howard Miller and Meridian (God, there's always something that pops up on eBay that NOBODY's ever seen before....) The Florence line for Prolon (I believe that Nelson had nothing to do with this line...it was Irving Harper) The jax bookends (were they or were they not Nelson??) The Kite Lamp (I have one and saw someone se ... | |||||

| I had some vitra clocks and... I had some vitra clocks and really like them. No, I didn't pay more than $150 for each, with the exception of $190 shipped on the eye clock. No sagging on mine (even that I don't understand how it's going to sag, since the bars are thick brass!) maybe they dropped as that it's a possibility. Love them. All I need is the steering clock and I'm done. The kite clock is great (don't have it) but it's not flat. Sideways, the two panels are set at an angle. -joel | |||||
| I guess was lucky with the Grasshopper, then | 1 Relevance | 19 years ago | barrympls | General discussion | |
| I guess was lucky with the Grasshopper, then Other than the structual repair on the inside right frame, my friend, David at Remnants didn't have much trouble doing my Grasshopper Chair and Ottoman, although he did have to sacrifice the nude silk fabric (which wasn't original, anyhow). At that time, I was seriously considering going after a apparently petrified Womb Chair and Ottoman instead on eBay.... glad I didn't! Have you ever tackled a George Nelson 1946 setee or a Saarinen Womb Setee? | |||||
| Sorry if I got a big rough | 1 Relevance | 19 years ago | barrympls | General discussion | |
| Sorry if I got a big rough Sorry if I went a bit off the deep end, but i have an issue when I provide a reasonable suggestion and it's dismissed. It would've been nicer to say 'Gosh, thanks for the tip, but I use this instead.' I didn't get that....instead the poster went on about how dangerous lighter fluid is and it was as if he didn't believe me. I felt like i was being 'diss'ed'! Anyhow, I will continue to post a suggestion, if I have one, or an opinion, if it's an open discussion. If someone does the same thing, I will try not to take it personally. OK ... | |||||
| Yea...maybe me too | 1 Relevance | 19 years ago | barrympls | General discussion | |
| Yea...maybe me too I have seen on eBay people in the UK selling what looks to be a high quality knockoff. Did the original have a second hand? I thought that this particular clock, with it's weird minute and hour hands, didn't have a second hand....in the first place. This sure brings up on an issue; Schiffer should put a book out researching ALL of the non-Herman Miller GEORGE NELSON Associates pieces. This book should include ALL of the known Howard Miller and Meridian Nelson clocks, the "Florence" melmac from Prolon, the box lamp I have that I've read is ... | |||||
| Aaaaaah Butterfly stool | 1 Relevance | 19 years ago | James-2 | General discussion | |
| Aaaaaah Butterfly stool The Butterfly stool has always been on my list of wants, but it doesn't spark that tear in her eye like it does with me. I always did wonder why Vitra didn't re-issue the Wiggle stool at the same time as the chair. They seem to be selling well, the stock keeps running out. She is the boss, so i'll need to find a way for her to pity me or we'll be putting a little wiggle in our house. 🙁 | |||||

| ... talented at putting off stuff. As far design goes, I got interested when I lived in NYC and my best friend was still alive. HE was the specialist in mid-century modern-au-go-go. When he died, I got a few of his things including the basic Nelson Comprehsive Storage System I have now added to. When my Dad died a couple of years ago, I finally enough money to start accumulating some decent furnishings. So I bought a much bigger house and have been carefully selecting furniture. I have been extremely lucky to find certain key pieces - like a Saarinen Grasshop ... | |||||

| robert1960 I'm about to propose to YOU - and I'm straight!! I especially relate to the part about: "wouldn't life be easier didn't care?" Sometimes I really hate caring about everything so much and noticing the things that others don't. sigh. | |||||

| Sounds like | 1 Relevance | 19 years ago | SDR | General discussion | |
| Sounds like an "end table," meant to be placed next to a living-room chair or sofa, often with a table lamp placed on it ? You didn't mention the height, but I would espect it to be no more than 24" high. A night stand (placed next to a bed, with lamp on top) would be similar except that it would not be two feet deep. | |||||

| I Enjoy Them! | 1 Relevance | 19 years ago | Robert Leach | General discussion | |
| ... if we didn't have them, we would most likey have an entire forum of Qs about Eames chairs! I think the problem with 'charging' for information, other than positive IDs (and even then, who will arbitrate?) is that valuations can fluctuate with the market, and indeed the country..there is no finite answer much of the time. Things are worth as much as someone will pay for them. | |||||
