| Fair point, Lucifer, but... Fair point, Lucifer, but you've inverted my analogy: I meant to say, if Tom Cruise, someone you like, began endorsing a product that you didn't like, in this case Scientology, would you then second guess your feelings based upon their association? And if so, to what degree? The Egg chairs don't make you feel any better about McDonald's, but McDonald's has made you feel bad about the Egg chairs through association. And I don't think it should. I think. Now I'm confused... In short, it's a downer, but the chair is no less a wonder, ... | |||||

| ... of this is the Renaissance (French = re-birth) which was literally the rebirth of art and architecture. So many times in history designers etc have looked at the past in order to invent something new. There are of course also pieces of art and design that are completely (or appear to be completely) original with no inspiration from past designs. So with respects to what will be popular in future (like e.g. the egg chair or Eames lounger is popular today), I think the same thing will happen as it always has. Some designs will go down in history because they ... | |||||

No one has complained about his upholstered chairs, or his tables and sideboards, for comfort, and the tall dining chairs fall into the Panton school (see above), perhaps. He himself admitted that he had a hard time with chairs. . . I like LuciferSum's sketches -- and the fact that he put his pen to work. A picture is worth much written criticism, isn't it ? C'mon people -- cough it up !

| I just emailed LRF a picture... I just emailed LRF a picture of the second table (pizza version) the other day. I was too lazy to post it here. Really wish I didn't have to use photobucket every time I want to post a picture. I fail at least 3 times out of 5... Anyway, I was in contact with a guy who had the Nelson pizza clock and matching table for sale. The tables were supposedly sold by Raymor, but not sure if there was ever a designer involved. At least I don't think Nelson had anything to do with the tables... | |||||

| To answer your question WoofWoof ...about who cares about feedback, listen to this interview where eBay's execs are confronted about all the changes. The interviewer clearly describes 2 perfect examples of bad buyers: one that extorts a discount after the item arrives, and another that failed to read the item description clearly on a jacket's measurements and left a negative feedback because she didn't like how the jacket looked on her, even after being offered a full refund. Note their vague responses, and also how they describe the current uproar as just ... | |||||

| BustownModern Hey, I'm from Lexington, KY. I was going to Cincinnati for the morning so I figured I might as well swing by Dayton and pick up the bookshelf. And I went into Artifact but they didn't really have anything that caught my interest. I got the chairs at Jimmy Modern which is just around the corner from Artifact. Jimmy Modern is on the corner of 5th Street next to the Goodwill. Artifact only had a limited number of mid-century modern pieces available that day (since they deal in everything). Jimmy Modern is strictly mid-century modern and he h ... | |||||

As far as I'm aware its the only instance of a state, democratic or otherwise, imposing 'good design'on its populace to the exclusion of all else and furthermore proscribing 'useless ornamentation' on furniture. Amazingly the utility restrictions on furniture didn't disappear wholly until 1953 although 'freedom of design' was allowed in 1948 so that furniture makers could produce more diverse furniture (but still within quite strict guidelines) - resulting in plenty of horrors but ...

| Hi Robert 🙂 I really didn't take it personally, but I needed to ask as I'm so "green" in this forum. That almost makes me laugh as so much of the furniture, accessories, etc that I'm seeing online and being discussed here are things I threw out during my teens and twenties - now I'm kicking myself *L* To me, Melmac was that cheap, plastic stuff that my mom used to serve us dinner on when I was a kid...we moved up to Corelle when I was in high school - if only I'd known *rolls eyeballs* I wonder how many of you avid collectors, with so much knowledge in this ... | |||||

I like it in the gold color, but I doubt it would look good with the green chairs. A bit too much. I think someday that I will have to get another chair and recover it in that fabric. On the couch, I'm also possibly leaning towards using some type of tweed pattern. Any suggestions color-wise will be appreciated. I'm not so worried about it going with the rug as that rug will probably be ...

| Jacqueline Nelson Almost every place that sells the Vitra Nelson clocks says "with the kind permission of Jacqueline Nelson", was it "kind permission" or "kind money" that gave Vitra the OK of make the clocks. I'd like to imagine that she was happy to have his company's clocks remade and didn't take money for it, but I'm sure it was the kindness that only cold hard cash brings out. Anyone know? | |||||

| Looks like Knoll fabric for... Looks like Knoll fabric for sure. I see Knoll Boucle fabric, which is more cozy than wool. Its hard to tell 100% from the poor photos. I think if you want to be sure, you would look at the edge stitching on the thin edge of the shell. It could have been made from the 1990's thru today. Its not 50s, 60s, or 70s production, but the good news its probably got new urethane foam, which is good. The repro wombs I have seen make me puke. This didn't so I say its real Knoll. | |||||

It was a wood panel with the standard wall mount clock works built into the panel and the panel had side metal attachments so it could be positioned on the poles. Stupid, bloody me...I didn't pinch the picture of it.
